Forum MVP John A Posted June 29, 2015 Forum MVP Report Share Posted June 29, 2015 Night 1 was pretty rough. Hornsby was so much a part of the sound during his brief time with the Grateful Dead. Here is was virtually nonexistant. Phil's vocals cracked so badly at times I was reminded of the Brady Bunch episode where Peter's voice was changing ("When it's time to change, you got to rearrange..."). Take the opening line of Dark Star. If that sounded good to you I won't mince words - you have no ears. Transitions were predicably rough and meandering. I think Dark Star came to a full stop before St Stephen, for example. The little Trey played was tasteful I thought. They just didn't seem to give him much room.
