count2
1970-01-03, early and late shows Set 1: Morning Dew ; Me And My Uncle ; Hard To Handle ; Cumberland Blues ; Cold Rain And Snow ; Alligator > drums > And We Bid You Goodnite jam > Alligator > Feedback > Uncle John's Band Set 2: Casey Jones ; Mama Tried ; Big Boss Man ; China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; Mason's Children ; Cryptical Envelopment > drums > The Other One > Cryptical Envelopment > Cosmic Charlie ; Black Peter ; Dire Wolf ; Good Lovin' ; Dancing In The Street Encore: Saint Stephen > In The Midnight Hour I've been craving my first old school show. It only took 8 years and about 35 shows. This one was a blast and worth the wait! Skip's bass was cranked up in the mix all night, it almost felt like the bass was the lead. A rare treat to get a Mason's - they brought out stands, presumably with the lyrics, for Skip and Eaton. Alligator and the Cryptical thru Cosmic Charlie run were highlights for me, and of course that encore. Nice switch from the Showbox, which I've never been a big fan of. It was hot as hell though, and no sign of air conditioning. Two doors at the side of the room were open to the ocean breeze, and folks would occasionally go stand by the doors to cool off. There were loads of people sitting up in the balcony, not sure how they could take the heat up there. The floor had plenty of elbow room and tons of smiling faces that looked like they couldn't believe their luck getting this show. The crowd was definitely feeling it, and doing their best to ignore the heat. I must have drank a gallon of water but I still felt like shit yesterday and didn't drive down to Eugene. On one hand, I'm dreading learning what I missed there, but on the other I'm happy to have this show fresh in my mind for a while. Edited July 30, 2022 by count2 6 Quote Link to comment
Forum MVP Rude Posted July 30, 2022 Forum MVP Report Share Posted July 30, 2022 My white whale was a desolation row. Took 100 or so shows to finally get it. Was a mid 80’s and they brought a lyric book out for Eaton. I was like this is it!! That song is crazy hard to memorize and even if you did know all the verses, trying to keep them in order is just as hard a feat. When cued with the 1st words of the verse, I know them but trying to come up with them with no cues is unfathomable to me. Would take me studying for weeks to get it then I’d forget it just as quick Quote Link to comment

While you get two in a row, 3 out of 4, I patiently wait for number one. Life presently getting in the way, so it may be a while longer. Hope you are there when it happens. Praise DSO.
