  1. Don't drink the bong water.
  2. I’m guessing elective set. I got excited when I saw Jack Straw first set closer. They did that at my first show, 8/30/80. Rare placement. Of course, I had no idea at the time. He’s back!
  3. I love it. Love will see you through. Ain't no time to hate. Gotta get back to where you belong. Never in my mind to cause so much pain. Gonna get there... We will survive bla bla bla Grateful Dead bla bla bla Dark Star Orchestra.
  4. Agree. Jerry band was an oasis when dead was getting weak after Brent died. I remember feeling the gospel thing at those shows. I also enjoy what Jerry did with Grisman at that time. That was Jerry going home. Just like when he suggested going back to their roots when they produced American beauty and Workingman's. Can't forget old and in the way, Reckoning. Jerry started on banjo, right? He grew up listening to his grandmothers radio tuned in to Bill munroe and the bluegrass boys. I think that's what you get with Jerry band. His roots. What he really likes. That's just the way I feel.
  5. I Announced my retirement in1990. Just saw a show nine days ago, bought a ticket four days ago.
  6. Stop and think about it. This is amazing. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. There is opportunity in everything. Eaton has personal, family, health problems. ( I have no idea, but I wish nothing but the best for you, Rob) The rest of the band seizes the moment with Jerry band shows yet, takes everything to the next level with THE THIRD SET, making it their own. Praise DSO ! I wasn’t even there and I’m happy this morning.
  7. I caught 9-3-89 at the spectrum. I got my ticket at the box office right before the show. I always found that amazing considering the popularity the Grateful Dead by that point in time. Sunday of Labor Day weekend. I guess everybody was at the beach.
  8. .....and I’ll trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday.....yea, I thought of you when I saw lucky old sun on the list. I know you had requested it. Beautiful tune. I turned my parents on to the release made from the ‘93 (?) Jerry band tour. They remember that tune from the original back in the day when they were young. Well, it’s in the mix, bound to resurface again. I waited seven years for box of rain, ten for dark star. .....gonna get there, I don’t know....
  9. I got turned on to the Dead cuz of my love of acoustic music. My second show was a radio city acoustic first set show. Monkey and the engineer on reckoning is from the night I was there. I caught one of the acoustic shows Dark Star did at the Birchmere to celebrate their 1,000th show. Incredible night! I can only imagine how special that show at the Hamilton must have been. Beautiful set list. I’m sorry I Let that one pass on by.
  10. WOW !!! I'm Sorry I missed that! Dark Star is making history. These are the good old days.
  11. I saw the Jerry band four days earlier, at the spectrum, before the original show Dark Star played Saturday night. (Goodly English?, Is everybody still following along?) one of my all time favorite shows. A lot of overlap in the set lists. One thing though, we got ' what a wonderful world' for an encore. No encore Saturday and a look on line shows that Jerry band didn't always do an encore. Matter of fact, it seems rare. Curious what others think. Anyway, I had a blast Saturday night! Jerry band show was a nice change. I seem to catch a lot of early era shows. Dear mr. Fantasy was a nice flash of Brent. Second set just climbed and climbed until Tangled up in blue explosion! I've never seen Lisa have more fun. The band just keeps outdoing themselves. I actually got a kick out of the bubbles during Shining Star. (It's the little things in life) I could go on, but, looking forward to Wilmington when you come back around. Thank you... For a real good time!
  12. Absolutely killer! What a celebration! I experienced such joy, moved to tears, able to flush all the negativity that had built up inside me right on out. There is nothing quite like a Dark Star Orchestra concert. That’s all. Thanks for letting me share.
  13. I do the same thing! That's when I know I need a show! Gotta go dance it out, boogie my sneakers away, deadersize, leave revitalized. Your dog needs a show.
