That whole show has x-factor all over it.  From that monster Sugaree to the ‘Reverse Uncle John’s’ to the China Doll Bustout.  Checks all my boxes - thanks Gr8fulpair ❤️

China Doll acoustic many times over during the 1980 15th Anniversary shows, Warfield/Radio City. I caught one of those at my second show and had the good fortune of knowing the song at the time. Caught one more in Spring of ‘87, Spectrum. Lyrics interpreted probably as widely as Terrapin. The back and forth makes it easy to hold it near, as it were your own, personalize it, help you work it out, shake it out, all over the  dance floor. We all love it, but for our own reason. It comes from the core of the Grateful Dead, I think.

5-19-77 is my favorite show, full stop.  2nd half of set 2 is "music plays the band" to another degree.  Sugaree is so perfect it defies reason.

Why is this the only show Spring Tour '77 with no encore? Because it didn't need one.
