  1. The Watkins glen poster shows dso recreating the 50th anniversary show. It doesn’t say 2 nights. They should probably make that clear. It’s showed 3 total bands but didn’t mention dso playing 2x
  2. Must be nice to be able to fly 4 peeps for a 1 off show across country to Watkins glen. Unfortunately I won’t drop 5k on a weekend. As I said she has 3 weeks off a year. She was denied 6/16 off with us taking off 6/23-26 then 7/1-7/9. We do 1 day off for 2 shows. Indy is 2 days off for 1 show. If we’d known dso was playing Asheville earlier we wouldn’t have booked panic redrocks 3 shows. Unfortunately we aren’t in your situation where we fly across country every weekend to see shows. Our child isn’t ready for shows. He’d torture us. 2 hours in a car and he tortures us so we won’t torture him for our pleasure. I love dso but I won’t spend 3k on last second RT flight to Jackson hole. Plus we already booked flights ti the beach. I get that you just do dso and now do every weekend but my whole family is at the beach so that’s where we are going. My single life revolved around dso but priorities are way way way different now. I was just hoping for a couple shows close that we could maybe not have to use days off on. Unfortunately not everyone with kids can see 40 shows a year. You home schooling?
  3. Well maybe fall will set up better lol.
  4. Deadco tonight at cornel. 46 anniversary of 5/8/77. There’s a $15 livestream that may be better than the original show!! Check their FB b/c I’m sure lots may go there with the comments. Unfortunately I won’t be getting the stream. Hard pass.
  5. It’s outdoor with a flat dance area. That’s all you need!! I’d love to do this weekend but she got freaking denied on her PTO request. Denied… Its gonna require an eventual talk with the boss saying this is how we deal with life stressors. Shows. If we get denied then it may not be the right job. On that note that would have been the 1st of 4 straight weekends out of town so we didn’t throw down the gauntlet
  6. We will definitely come see you guys one day while in Colorado. We got a really close Airbnb so we can do as much as we can while we have freedom. I’d guess that most shows(the Wyoming excluded), Dso gets paid on a percent of ticket sales. The money is in the northeast for sure and it’s a different post covid environment. That’s also why we can’t rely on DSO tours. They do what they have to do and we will also. It’s just too expensive and too much hassle for us to do New York shows. We are doing panic b/c Nashville to Denver is cheap and it’s a direct flight. We waited as long as we could to plan summer days off. She’s at a hospital now and things are different. In summer the parentals also travel so the 2 babysitting options are limited June and July. We had a blast at panic New Years in Nashville. Free place to stay and 2 hours away so that was an easy decision so we wanted to take that ride again. And we are at the beach 7/1-7/9. My whole family is there. Personally I’d love to do the whole 3 weeks at the beach but she’s gotta work.
  7. we used to base all our plans around DSo, but they aren’t playing our area like they used to and we aren’t getting the notice we used to get. Dso has played like 5 shows within 7 hours of us in the last year. We caught pretty much all of those, but the days of 15-20 shows within 7 hours are over it seems. They haven’t played Indy since 2019. There have been 3 cincy shows and 1 St. Louis show in 4 years. Am I supposed to just sit and wait and hope I get a show MC?? If they don’t come then I do nothing? Having a baby means we have to plan ahead for babysitters. If I see something non dso that’s fun, I book it. It’s May and a July run was just announced. Do you see how many peeps on here want to go to Wyoming and they can’t b/c it was too last second and they have other plans already. This is a real issue that the band needs to address as it’s affecting their pocketbooks. I’d guess with 6-7 months notice; at least 30 peeps just on the board would be going. That money loss adds up and DSO is a business and whoever is doing their booking needs to step their game up b/c it’s costing them money!
  8. Maybe the biggest issue is Deadco is playing the gorge this weekend. Many out west planned that trip a long while ago. I hope dso sells a bunch of tix but on FB you see a lot wishing they could do this but already have a big group heading to the gorge.
  9. we had to pick a beach week months ago with her working at a hospital now and everyone going on vacations in the summer. A big excursion like this needs lots of advance notice for flights and planning. I remember Barraco at our camp at Jubilee telling us they were playing redrocks 14 months in advance to make sure we all made it and pretty much everyone we knew did make it with that 14 month heads up. I’d have to think that with a year notice on this that it would be like jubilee and we’d have 100 friends there. We’d have for sure done this with enough notice vs 3k cost on a last minute RT flight for 2 and even at 3 months, flying 4th of July week is last minute. We wanted to make this happen but alas it wasn’t in the cards. Unfortunately she can’t get off Asheville weekend b/c other social workers already took that Friday off and she’s the only one on her floor. We need more DSO but what we really need is notice so she puts in for her PTO before others.
  10. A friend gave us the heads up on this a while back and even early April trying to get a flight to Jackson hole that 4th of July week is insane. Pre baby we’d have flown to Denver the weekend before and get a car and go to Yosemite for the week and finish with shows. Plus we are at the beach this week and weirdly there aren’t direct flights from the Carolina beach to Jackson hole. They are prob used to mostly private planes with Kanye West and the Biebs. If Tea decides to book us a charger leaving from Raleigh, we can make this work.
  11. I don’t know much about the tech part of it besides it’s their new flagship large format PA and that each speaker in the array is self powered so no need for 20 mono blocks to push the sound. I just want 1 McIntosh mono block but the little man is more likely to get one before me. Or you can have 4 like John A and do a home addition just to put your power and server bank. It is sorta crazy to see his music closet with all the Beta tapes of music as well as the thousands of casettes. Crazy to think that people took beta tapes and 30 pound VCR things into shows in the day as that was the 1st digital way to record. Did you have to bring a car battery for the power?
  12. yeah the Panther line array they use is as good as it gets. Each speaker in the array is pretty much a new car and there are 10 in each array. https://meyersound.com/product/panther/
  13. It’s Cotter’s birthday on the Friday of Jubilee so make sure to say hi and thank you for the sound he gives us.
  14. Just so you can hear the sound difference with Cotter running DSO’s board and how all 6 instruments are so crystal clear, Here is DSO https://www.facebook.com/SkullandRoses4/videos/1229897600968662/?app=fbl Here is Phil and friends the next night. https://www.facebook.com/SkullandRoses4/videos/3522641931358786/?app=fbl Cotter should be paid to run the whole festivals sound. Toss him 10k and say get to work!!!!
  15. DSO just puts it all together so well. They are so balanced. No need to compensate anywhere. One massive boost is cotter on sound. Last night listening to Phil and friends, the levels were wrong. We couldn’t even heay the piano and the high hats were almost muffled. Gotta have the clean high hat sound like dso has to make the sound rich. I felt bad for Chris in no simple highway. His vocal mic was completely off during him singing revolution to open their show. There were a lot of sound problems that you don’t get at jubilee.
  16. So our new friend we made at Milwaukee DSO and also Bill K’s college roommate, Chris, is playing organ currently in No Simple Highway. Dino on drums too.
  17. Show was too late to watch last night so jammed with coffee this morning on the replay. Sounded great at home. You could hear all instruments perfectly. That’s imperative for home listening. Too many of the other bands had the rhythm get lost in the mix but not with dso. watched a lot of dead from this fest and there are lots of fun bands, but DSO’s level of interplay between all the members is at such a high level. There are no weak links and you can tell they are a full time band. The biggest difference to me is with the percussion section. Dino and Koritz are so fantastic and tight with perfect clean sound and you have the best dead keyboardist in the land with Barraco filling out the group. Luckily skip was on last night b/c from the home stream he was turned way up in the mix. He was awesome. Creative playing. If you were curious about playing dead bass, you could hear every note he picked.
  18. 1st you had JK in Latin Dead. Now barraco and skip in Mars hotel. This fest is half dso players. It’s jubilee with perfectly sunny weather and all dead bands. On that note, I want MORE DEAD at jubilee. How about a local Dead act mid day. Invite Hyryder. They would sell 300 tickets by themselves. I’d like jubilee to be more like this. Who needs variety of music styles. I just want variety of Dead.
  19. So JK is playing with the Latin Dead. Didn’t know he identified as LatinX. Good to have a bit of diversity in the scene. It’s veryyy pale. It’s so pale I almost feel racist for going up to the one black chick I see at a bunch of shows and giving a hug and saying hi. I wouldn’t do that to a random white girl. Is that racist or just being hyper aware how white the scene is and wanting to welcome others. Playing basketball in high school I was the only white person at a few parties but we were a sports team so. Ramble ramble. 420 started way early along with whiskey 30.
  20. The lead guitarist of the Garcia birthday band plays with the speed of like Joe satriani but playing dead. Holy shit the let it grow is nuts. Expecting maybe 2-3 notes in a noodle he throws like 6 all perfectly played. It’s not as bluesy playing that speed but it’s was pretty fucking badass. edit: I’m officially in love with their lead guitarist. Holy crap he’s fucking amazing. That mighty high was also sick
  21. I didn’t make it to start time lol. Was in bed at 9pm. I need sleep to be on my feet starting at 7a with wild man. He no longer lets me sit down. I must stay active with him or he climbs me like a tree. Knees to the nose is my punishment for sitting.
  22. https://m.facebook.com/SkullandRoses4 you can go and watch last night with barraco Eaton skip Melvin wolf lane and jk. Good show so far. Little man is wresting me b/c I want music with my coffee. He wants trains so he’s attacking me climbing on me. FYI you don’t need a FB to watch the stream.
  23. So McNally thought the fare thee well shows would put a stake in the music?? That’s bonkers. How would someone so in tune with this scene believe this would be the end??? It’s not like those shows created all these dead tributes. There wasn’t some explosion in tributes b/c of fare thee well. Such a weird take. Of course there are the peeps who one do Deadco who weren’t seeing other bands before but it’s not like those people are now filling dso shows. I’d guess dso sold as many if not more tickets right before fare thee well as they did pre covid. He did know there were 500+ tributes out there already and there was a Sirius station that’s all dead. Were we going to just start listening to EDM or hip hop as that’s the new music out there. Were we going to stop seeing live music b/c they announced these “final” shows. Just strange how he didn’t have his finger on the pulse of fans at all.
  24. it’s about time and babysitters. We aren’t in a fantasy world anymore and can’t leave whenever we want. We need notice. It’s not money, it’s days off work for her. It’s also not wanting to hop in a car driving 4 hours a day town yo town. Those days are over. 3 days in Colorado near summer solstice sounds great to me. We don’t do Albany New Years b/c connecting flights suck and we don’t do the extra days before shows anymore. Denver is great if we have the same bed for multiple nights but I’m mostly done with car tours or non direct flights. We do what we can do. Life changes. Priorities change. See you at jubilee :))
  25. before the band has said they don’t announce anything close to Columbus unless jubikee sells out b/c there are weird people who will be like no reason to do jubilee with a cincy show a month later. If I were guessing I’d guess cincy, St. Louis and Chicago are somewhere end of June. But weve wanted to go to RR again in the summer and 3 panic shows who we enjoy as a change of pace was too good to pass up. I love 3 shows in 1 spot. You get great rest and can enjoy the local sites. When dso did the 2 Boulder then RR, it was so fun being in the same Airbnb 3 nights.
