Again the football championship is New Years freaking eve. The 1st year they did that they saw something like 25% lower ratings because everyone is doing stuff that night. They put the garbage Mich v TCU on in the afternoon of course. We can watch that much less appealing matchup than OSU Georgia. Where we are staying has no DVR. And if they do the replay at midnight, they have the stupid score scroller at the bottom that will tell you who won lol. That was a matchup I’ve been dying to watch. Explosive offense vs country’s best defense. Ugh. I guess a 3 set Panic show will have to suffice.

That game hurt me. 6-2 last 8 and we gave up a 14 and 17 point lead or undefeated. Bix was there in person for the collapse. The worst part was we should have had a 1st down in OT but it hit the receiver in the chest and bounced into a DB for a pick 6. Wtf

Every time I see Deadco I’m thinking the sound is horrible. JRAD adds insane delay to the whole show which really pisses me off. It gets to be a muddled mess even though I love seeing them. Cotter just needs to run sound for everyone. He keeps it clean and you hear every cymbal hit crystal. There are times at JRAD where I can’t even hear Russo’s drums. Hyryder always has really clean sound. If they didn’t we wouldn’t go see them. The dead is about crystal sound. They had so much attention to detail on their sound and the best dead bands make sure they have that clean sound. At summerfest a few years ago we got there for the Phish tribute before DSO. The sound wasn’t good. I was all stressed out thinking maybe it was the setup. Nope. Once dso comes on it sounds amazing.

That place is old and back then they didn’t worry about someone being an idiot and falling and them getting sued b/c the railings were too low. We were in this opera type box seeing dso in I think Boston and the rail was about 18” high in this 8 person box and I was scared to death my shin was gonna hit that rail and me flip over. It was so low that the rail actually made it almost more dangerous than no rail at all. I put a chair between me and the rail. It was nerve racking.

Under the balcony you can’t see the PA speakers so you can’t get the sound besides these tiny old mounted bookshelf looking speakers. When we have those seats we go up to the upstairs dance area behind the seats which is super cramped. Being 6’4, under the overhang, I have to duck just to see the bands faces. The balcony at the Ryman is the spot to get seats unless you can get 1st 8-10 rows down low.

Yeah that sounds pretty epic. We got to do Billy strings Christmas spectacular in 2018 with 300 others in a tiny joint but it was all Billy joined on stage by the McCourry’s and a bunch of other Nashville peeps. Don’t think Billy still does 300 person shows. I can’t believe he sold out 2 Bridgestone arena shows in Nashville. He’s getting rich lol. But I found out that many bought tix to Bridgestone to get in the lottery for the Ryman show lol. Hilarious the peeps selling tix to Bridgestone on CoT saying they just bought them to get a shot at the Ryman. Lol

Every song played was in backwards chronological order starting with Samba and ending with Cream Puff War. Set 2 they played Go to Heaven in order so that was the exception. interesting concept. I verified the dates 1st played in the annotated Grateful Dead lyrics which lists the dead original performance. They made sure every song was 1st played before the song before. I didn’t realize it at the time just being in the groove. i don’t think anyone we talked to at the show wasn’t going to skull and roses. All those Indy peeps are going out there to enjoy a fest and support Hyryder. Like every person we talked with lol. I was making a comment in the bathroom how I wish there was the dance space like DSO in Atlanta Roxy a year ago and dude next to me said that was an awesome weekend. He was one of the few that showed for shows at that epic venue. It’s a small world in the dead scene. Having a deadicated dead bar in Indy really helps to build the following.

Getting to do Hyryder at the Vogue theater in Indy Saturday. Much better place to dance than the mousetrap which is THE worst designed music bar in the country. Entrance door at front left of stage. Bathroom at front right of stage. From outside to pee makes you have to walk through the 1st few rows of dancers. Then to the bar you have to walk through the middle of the dance floor. You can dance for 15 secs before someone is coming through to pee or smoke.

Christmas is the one time of year that the college kids all have weed money but the parents don’t lol.

Georgias weak spot is at DB. They really have no other weakness. OSU will have to get the ball out fast to their playmakers and let them work. Marvin Harrison Jr is fantastic. If it ends up Georgia v Michigan that seems like a bad on paper matchup having to run against the best DT in football the last 2 years in Jalen Carter is no easy task. He will likely be the 1st non QB drafted next year.

Here’s the playoff 1 Georgia 2 Michigan 3 TCU 4 OSU bama is better than TCU but Bama didn’t have a playoff game to have a chance to lose so I’m keeping TCU at 3 b/c Michigan shouldn’t have to play OSU game 1 even though OSU is the 2nd best team after Georgia. Michigan had like 4 scores of 65+ yds. Defensive breakdown by OSU. They are just badly coached with all that elite talent plus playing the Rutgers type teams makes you lazy. that’s my call. Plus if you put Bama in, you’d have to make them the 3rd seed as no one wants rematches

Gonna suck for Georgia to have to play OSU 1st playoff game. That’s a brutal one. Michigan will get a cupcake game 1 with TCU assuming they win. If TCU loses do you make Bama play Georgia and Michigan play OSU?? Or do you put Georgia vs osu and Michigan vs Bama for a more interesting semis??

lol. John beat me to it after searching deadbase. In 76 it was fairly common set 2 but after 76 it was only played 1 time again in set 2 7–7-81

I’m not saying who deserves in. I’m saying the best 4 teams are osu Michigan Georgia and Bama. Bama was kicking for the win against tennessee. They missed with 20 secs. Tennessee made a pass and kicked a 50 yarder. It’s football. Things happen. Bama doesn’t deserve in but that doesn’t mean they aren’t one or the 4 best. Same with OSU. they stunk on degense. 4 monster plays allowed. Inexcusable. But they are a true top 4 team.

LSU had a nice season in the brutal SEC west but they weren’t gonna beat Georgia. Upsets happen but when you have a defense like Georgia, they get a lot rarer. Georgia isn’t the type of team that allows monster plays. Too much talent and speed but that talent is so well coached by the best D coordinator in football in Kirby smart. He led those amazing Bama defenses and now he can recruit the elite guys who want to be on insane defenses. If you aren’t willing to dedicate yourself you won’t see the field on Georgia D and that takes a different mentality. Many will transfer out, but those are the guys Kirby doesn’t want. It’s like those 2000’s Ravens teams that kicked 2 FGs and won. The defensive guys who lived for laying hits on guys prayed they would end up there. Georgia is gonna have to find a QB for 2023, but that defensive foundation has been laid. Georgia Michigan TCU USC there’s your playoff. The best 4 in the county are Georgia Bama Michigan and OSU. if you look at the FPI they are way way ahead of the pack. TCU and USC aren’t close to top 10 in the metrics but it is what it is. I’d love to see Georgia vs OSU and Bama v Michigan. That’s some advertising dollars but some weak schedules sneak in and that’s ok too. Georgia is number 2 if they lose to LSU. They have been the most consistently dominant team in the country all year and no way any 1 loss team has any shot of jumping them.

OSU crapped the bed again. Just ludicrous defense. 70 yds rushing all day allowed then 2 70 yarders plus the missed tackle short pass that went for 70 yards.

A missed tackle and the game completely changed. Now OSU has to deal with stress instead of the comfort of running the offense with a 1 score lead, what’s about to piss me off is a buddy wants to watch World Cup instead of this. Come on mam
