unless I want the cleaning staff to take my hamptons summer home, I keep my staff to myself.
-
great…. Now I have to lay my staff off again.
-
I’ve got my Birkin bag at the ready. Need to call up the staff and have them open up my home. Haven’t used my place there in a year. It’s only 5 BR and we only have formal meal seating for 10, but our chef is fantastic. Check your PM’s for invites.

my dad claims jersey tomatoes are the best too. He grew up in the jersey suburbs so he’s biased. Even though i hail from west KY I’m putting away all biases to say our tomatoes are better.
-
that is correct. They are fruit and should be allowed to continue ripening.
-
TL:BDR (too long but did read). It’s funny how everyone thinks their homegrown tomatoes are best but anyone with an objective bone in their body knows that Western Kentucky has the ideal soil to grow the best of 12-14 different strains of tomatoes(2 strains are in dispute with New Jersey). The Ohio River bottoms get replenished with nutrients from constant floods to create the perfect tomato. It is known khaleesi.

Playing pandora dead radio 7/11/22 at 7:49 est and was like that sounds like barraco singing. Phil and friends 6/28/06 Raleigh. Don’t get to hear barraco sing Bertha much. Very doubtful he’s ever been lead singer on Bertha in DSO and likely not a lot in his career but it was a solid lead! it must be Rob B day on pandora as 6/30/06 Phil and friends Camden St Stephen has him singing again a few songs later, although harmony vs the Bertha lead. Pretty sure Barraco asked Phil for 1 lesson on bass and next day he was like “mastered it. If dso will ever let me join, I can play bass if needed in a pinch”. Note that’s a dramatization and may or may not have happened. Get ready for a ton of that in that Jonah hill Jerry movie. I expect nonsense like Jerry shooting up in a locked bathroom stall and 2 cops are peeing outside and Jerry drops his dope and the cops are like us someone in there and it’s a stressful moment or all the invented conversations it takes to make a docudrama. To make it current and relevant as the Grateful Dead is in the mothballs of history while Deadco is fresh and fashion forward, Bobby should be telling Jerry “come on dude. People want this music slow. No one wants that fast style. We need to partner with Izod to have a Grateful Dead line of pastel polos and offer a $5k cashmere SYF blanket that will be a hit with our core fans”.

we saw you there. Well we saw the fb stream with you on it lol

they’ve been in New England or the northeast for a while. Dso has played 1 show in the Midwest in a year and that was a single cincy show this year besides jubilee. The northeast has gotten a buttload of shows this year. Since I’ve been seeing dso for the past 11 years I’ve never seen such a high concentration of shows east coast. Luckily for peeps up there they booked a lot of fests before covid was eliminated locking them in to connector shows. I’ve had to fly to Utah and DC to catch needed shows. I’m ready for some 5 hour drive local shows. edit: I forgot the 2 caverns shows but that’s technically the south.
-
It’s gonna happen unless DSO is retiring which isn’t a thing but no clue where. I’d guess Midwest/south.

part of the fun is guessing the year or for a rare few, the exact show if it’s a unique and famous setlist or if they were at the show. They have recreated as early as 1968 (1 set was a Grateful Dead setlisy as the dead played mostly 1 set in those days then a dso setlist using songs that could have been played in 1968) and They have played up to a 1994 dead setlist but no 1994 since 2008. They generally stop at 1992. You pretty much get up to Bruce Hornsby era.
-
i was at that show. Was a few months after Jerry died and was seeing if they could fill the void. I hated the setlist. It wasn’t dancy and happy. That was last time I saw phish until 2019.

Bonnaroo starts tomorrow. The highs in Nashville are supposed to be 99 Thursday and Friday. Screw that. Plus you have to walk minimum half a mile from camp to the music venue if not a full mile if you don’t get there early. They have 2 air conditioned medical tents where they put an IV bag to rehydrate you. The medical guy said an IV gets them back to normal pretty quick. Hell I think I’d just go say I’m overheating and get the IV fluids. Maybe go early AM to recover from the previous night. Hey bro. Could you toss a little morphine and some B12 in the bag to get rid of the hangover. Can you just leave this hooked up and I’ll pour ice water in the bag as needed. Bonnaroo is set up as a young persons fest with the brutal heat being end of June in the south and the ridiculous walk to camp. You could pay $4k for super vip to get within a few blocks if you like to throw money away or you are one of those types who need to feel important. There is actual music there though vs Coachella with no one I’ve ever heard of and only 20% are influencers at bonnaroo vs the majority of Coachella’s crowd.

annie are you ok. Are you ok annie.

So meili was watching the Tonys the other night as she’s did a lot of musical theater in the day and now I can’t get smooth criminal out of my head. I keep singing. “Annie are you ok. Are you ok Annie”. Fuck. It’s on repeat in my head.

i think half the country has had covid in the last 3 weeks. Everyone’s doing home tests so the official numbers are way lower than in the days where you did drive thru testing. order your 8 free tests here. It’s a simple auto fill form. https://special.usps.com/testkits

Anyone seen the video of this show. I saw video tapers on night 2 and 3 but it was a bit wet night 1 so can’t seem to find any.
-
thats what they said Friday but on Saturday they said too much of everything is just enough so I’m confused.
-
i think the neighbors moonshine got to me during night 1. 1st time I’ve puked at a show since 95 at the pyramid in Memphis at 23yrs old(not the last time I puked, but last time puked at a show). Got overheated and boom. It sort of drained me Saturday as well. By Sunday I was alive and kicking again. I did get up front to watch Scott Friday and by d/s I was on one of those comfy couches in VIP enjoying the rest of the show. We discovered that the VIp deck got abandoned by set 2 so that was the dance spot for me Saturday night and for a few of us on Sunday. We had a 20’x20’ area for 5 of us on Sunday on nice wood vs the freaking rocks. The VIP deck is a clutch spot. Great sound and tons of room once the chairs are gone.

The Ryman is my least favorite indoor venue. It is impossible to dance in those church pews. The back of your leg is touching your pew and the front of your leg is touching the back of the pew in front of you. If you are unlucky enough to be in one of the back 8 rows on the 1st floor you cannot see the PA’s which means you can’t hear them and you get your sound from these tiny little speakers hanging from the balcony which is maybe 10 feet above your head. The only place to dance in the Ryman is in the balcony behind the seated area. That place is made to sit and watch music. The sound is great in the balcony area. There’s a tiny bit more leg room in the balcony vs downstairs where there’s none. I saw Bobby there and was 2nd to last row lower level and I had to duck down to see his face as the balcony obstructed my view being 6’4”. Ever since that show every time at the Ryman we just go upstairs. Saw panic accoustic there with Billy strings joining them. That was cool. Then Billy came upstairs to watch the rest of the show and he was hounded walking to his seat. I’m like let the guy enjoy the show for god sakes. Panic was playing and he was surrounded by people trying to take pics with him with music playing, not even during a break. Geez. Price of stardom I guess. The furthest I’ve gone as a star fucker was nodding my head to Phil who was 5 feet away during jazz fest in a small club. Peeps need some peace. That shit helped contribute to Jerry’s death.

it’s a nice novelty but it’s always wet and dripping from the ceiling and that board DSO uses has no replacement. It’s a one of a kind. Cotter protects that thing like a newborn. Dew and condensation is not its friend. He takes it apart and cleans it a lot to keep it alive, but I think there were only 25 of those made or something like that. Maybe it’s 25 left in existence. Conversations over time become blurred but the overall take was that it can’t be replaced. and that’s not even mentioning stage equipment. They were finishing up making a permanent outdoor stage when we were there. Outdoor seems the way to go.

At jubilee I spoke with someone associated with the band who said they personally never want to play indoors there again. It’s nasty and wet and no ventilation. I have 0 interest of going indoors there again myself. Got sick as a dog doing Melvin and jgb there and half our friends caught covid and had to miss jubilee. Nice to know you caverns.

To answer my question it looks like Touch had been played 20 or so times, throwing stones around 30 and it was the 13th bucket and was around the 4th or 5th time all were played same show. In this digital age, we can only find this stuff in a book. Weird.
