But who leaves…I never leave ….ever. I mean most of us don’t

my 1st dso show in chicago in 2011, I went with my ex and she said how fucking long are they going to play!!!! They did the encore and 2 fillers. We had to leave during the 1st filler to get back to the train station to take the last Metra to the suburbs. Maybe in chicago it’s a train situation as the last metra leaves Union station around 1230. That’s the only time I’ve left early ever and it wasn’t really that early.

the FB vids look epic. There’s a lack of thong bikinis at jubilee and being a feminist, I fight for women to be able to wear them in every day circumstances and oppose censorship!! It seems that grateful fest  is fighting back against this national push to demonize appropriate clothing!!

  3. I love when peeps leave during D/S in big cities. It’s usually super crowded but after it’s half full and we can finally cut loose. You don’t lose many peeps in the smaller towns like you do in New York and chicago. I really wish we could do the Pabst theater on fall tour as that venue is freaking amazing and no one’s leaving or stopping dancing for 4 hours.

My favorite!  He knows what he's talking about!  Why not have dinner at 430p too!  Oh Wait - that was a very common occurrence for the salt of the earth crew

dont forget the dude was mad dso took a 30 min setbreak. Everyone knows the dead didn’t take a setbreak in his 50 shows. Set breaks are for the weak and Jerry was against them.

our 430 dinners were planned so we didn’t have to use the facilities at venues which can be treacherous as well as not having full bellies that would slow down our insane dancing.

I can picture the people that gave those reviews at the shows saying to their friends "I hope they play that good song...

From these reviews, dso can’t play the 60’s b/c those songs suck and there’s a reason dead stopped playing them, they can’t play early 70’s b/c it’s all cowboy songs, and playing 84 is bad b/c that was the dead’s worst period. Dso just needs to play 75-79 or do electives with the hits like Touch, truckin, sugar mags, and rosemary like on the greatest hits!!

  5. I was reading some reviews of dso on Ticketmaster and thought some were hilarious. Most were very positive but the negative ones cracked me up and here’s a few of them.

Here’s an example of most 5* reviews and this is the way peeps on forums feel about dso.

I have never been a fan of Grateful Dead music until I went to a DSO concert. This wasn’t a concert, this was an experience. An amazing experience with a wonderful vibe, wonderful music and the amazingly friendly people. I can’t get enough! This is my fourth show and I want to be there anytime I have the chance. It was great and I danced until I physically could no more. Wow- what a great show!

    now to the bad reviews

(GD 1984 recreation.  This guy was mad DSO played too long and took a 30 minute break between sets as well as hating the setlist even though it was a GD setlist. 1 star review)

They took at least a 30 min break; like come on Jerry Garcia was not there. We know you’re not the Grateful Dead. I want to experience their music not their breaks. BTW I’ve seen the Grateful Dead w Jerry more than 50 times so I know what I’m talking about. Poor song selection and no flow from one song to another. On a scale from 1-10 it was a 3 we left during drums and space I’ve Never done that Ever. Also most followers are now in 50-60s. Starting at 7 and being done at 10 would be cool.

(in salt lake dso doing 4-12-69. 2 star review)

very little room for movement. Shafted on drink prices, the set list was terrible as well.

(house of blues Cleveland 2022. May 1969 recreation. 2 star review. Lmao. Come on DSO let those old songs stay where they belong!!!)

The band was in good form on Monday night. They chose a May 1969 playlist that left a lot to be desired. The set opened strong with Hard To Handle and a pepped up version of Cold Rain and Snow. It went downhill from there - a cover of Tom Jones Green Green Grass of Home was flat. The second set opener He Was a Friend of Mine and Doing That Rag did nothing to pump the crowd. The band left the stage and the crowd barely responded. Sorry guys. There's a reason why those songs have been left in the archive.

(then you get conflicting reports. Several said this was the best DSO show ever and then you get this guy)

    what happened to this band??

by pbp on 4/3/22The Paramount - Huntington

Worst show I've been to in a long time. No energy/no connection with audience. They acted like they were a new band performing for the first time; like too much time between songs--wht are we playing next?? We left after an hour!!

(Come on dso. Why are you playing 80’s dead)

      Mediocre 1980s show

by MoreMonkey on 3/15/22State Theatre - Portland

The experience was, as always, a fun circus. But the show they chose for night two was so-so at best. With all the wonderful music the Grateful Dead made in the late 60s and 1970s it baffles me why anyone would choose a show from their weakest period.

(On that note, dso shouldn’t be playing boring early 70’s either!!)

      disappointed

by jojo on 3/14/22State Theatre - Portland

band should tell us before hand what years they are playing i saw the early 70's which is more western , country bluegrass with zero trippy jams

(Dso needs to learn dead better. The Grateful Dead wasn’t a rock band evidently)

      Extremely Bad Venue

by Joy on 12/7/21Revolution Live Outdoors at the Backyard. - Ft Lauderdale

First of all, the band is more rock based. The Dead were more folk based. It was loud in a very small space. Which brings me to that... This was such a small space and so overcrowded. Bad choice in a pandemic. Also no place to sit.

Me and Luke did Alabama/Atlanta phish run. 5 shows like to have killed me in that heat. I shows is plenty. I think we are doing the Bridgestone shows too. Along with DSO Indy and Newport. Wanna go th the ledges this weekend. Neither boy can go but it’s a pretty good lineup and I wanna go back

we wanted to do grateful fest but it’s not to be.

with dso, ticket prices are irrelevant to seeing shows but the 3 day phish ticket for Bridgestone is $360 each and 720 for a pair stings a bit vs 250 for a pair 3-day dso run. We’re doing Friday and Saturday phish. There are a ton of unsold upper level which means tix on CashorTrade will be 40 or less for Bridgestone day of show when everyone dumps tix for less than face since it’s not sold out. It sort of sucks how phish and dso Birmingham>Chattanooga are back to back weekends. Would be nice to get a run a month instead of back to back weekends then not much rest of the year.

We loved the area so much we going back with the kids Labor Day weekend.

I’ve never been but you could explore Yellowstone for weeks and only do a fraction. We did 3 days 2 nights in Yosemite during west coast summer tour 2018 and had a blast. National parks are only like $25 a day to primitive camp in. With limited time and a bum ankle we drove the main drag to see all the main sites and spent lots of therapy time up to my knees in ice cold streams. It seems almost criminal to not spend extra days up there besides the show. I bet that place was packed with tourists being the biggest vacation week of the summer and likely would have been a bitch to drive through with so many cars. When Jonathan is old enough to appreciate stuff like that we will do a couple week road trip of national parks and camp. We are lucky to have such an amazing parks system here in the states that makes it affordable for all to visit.

2nd Show was TOP shelf :) Band was feeling it!! What a great venue! Thank you to the crew and band. I know how much work there was to lug all the equipment up in the Gondola. I truly hope you will be back next summer! WOW!!!!

I’d love to do a week up there!! I’d also love to know about the dates in January. I think camping reservations in Yosemite go live in February.

  9. Sweet got my 1st row dead center balcony tix for St. Louis. That GA floor gets oppressively packed and balcony was only $45 a ticket front row. Boom. We’ve started to get balcony when possible and reasonably priced at venues where it’s hard to dance and the pageant has so many chairs and tables and railed off tiers that it’s rough dancing and that pit is shoulder to shoulder. Wish they would remodel that place and just tear it all out and have 1 large flat floor like all of the new venues are doing.

Doing Phish in Alabama/Atlanta with Luke. Love this small venue in Huntsville. Orion Amphitheater. We sat in the absolute back and was like having pavilion seats at Deercreek.  lol gave em a whole lot to have shakedown, free parking,  restaurants and hotels galore within a mile. Great setup if anyone gets a hankerin’ for an Alabama getaway. They even let you in the venue early to buy merch then leave and come back

we were going to do all 3 Phish Nashville in October until DSO announced fall tour with advanced notice yay. Now we are prob just gonna do 1-2 at Bridgestone since it’s the week before DSO does their 1st 3 of fall. I’m a fan of arena shows. You get the big sound and light shows and there should be tickets galore as Nashville is not a jam band town at all. They didn’t even open the upper level for Panic New Years for the Friday night show and had maybe 100-200 max upper level for actual New Years eve. Hoping for some cheap get in tix but phish is a bigger act.

  11. James Brady is only oppressive if it’s packed. This place would be oppressive too sold out. This will be the show to go to on a Wednesday night. Should be dance room for days. It’s crazy how much Newport has grown up. That whole downtown area has been torn down and condos and hotels built up. I always wondered why Newport with a quick bridge to Cincy wasn’t the go to place to live if you work in downtown cincy as it’s the closest living area to downtown when most Cincy residents live 10 miles away.

fun fact: Newport used to be Sin City. They had illegal gambling and prostitution houses and the liquor stores are still open until 2:30 am. They have changed a lot but it’s where peeps go for booze late night in cincy

brand new venue. Dso played there before. It evidently has a different name now but it’s a new, large, indoor outdoor venue. Boogie down.

what’s weird is if you drive around if you will never find it. It’s on the 2nd floor of a parking garage. We and others were like where the hell is it then we see a tiny sign pointing to an elevator that takes you up

What has happened to Richmond? No Summer stop and now no Fall stop. Disappointing…

yoo had 3 Richmond shows in 2022. 3/26/22 and 11/17 and 11/18/22. Facebook is where people who get way more than their fair share of shows go to complain.

    Zero New England shows. Damn.

the very last show before Wyoming was Boston. That tour had a lot of Vermont and CT and nonstop New York. Dso plays different areas of the country on different tours. New York and the northeast has had way way more than they used to get. They play maybe 70 shows a year at this point and half have been up there.

Again, Facebook is the place to go complain when you aren’t aware how they do tours and when they just played your town a couple shows ago and are mad they play in a different region.

I did the 2 nights of goose at the Louisville Palace. I enjoyed it. I’ll catch them when they are close. Saw dead and C o at Deercreek. We had a group of 10, and shenanigans ensued. Was a beautiful time and a monster shakedown. Currently sitting in the rain down at terrapin hill farm. Took in Hyryder and Rumpke last night and a full night of bluegrass ahead of storms allow.

i sold a friends weekend ticket for $40 for rislofest on CashorTrade. Prob should have let you know

  15. Got to see Panic at redrocks for 3 shows June 23-25th. Flight was delayed 6 hours which created a ton of stress and we got to the show 20 mins in which was so lucky. Unfortunately what we didn’t know is if you don’t get there way before doors which is 2:30 before the show, you can’t get in the seating part. Everyone puts down blankets and you are screwed. Saturday we get there 30 mins before doors and can only get row 53 of 70. You couldn’t hear any bass up there and the sound was super weak. Everyone near us was shocked how quiet the sound was. So Sunday we get in line at 2pm and get row 30. We were stilll disappointed in the sound. Panic usually turns it way up. You never complain about volume at their shows but it was lacking.

The whole weekend was a race. Race to eat and hit dispensary then race to the show then race up the stairs to drop your blanket and secure a spot. We had zero time to enjoy Colorado. We did spend a ton of time at redrocks and it has gorgeous views so there’s that, but we won’t be going again for this. It’s like tailgating at a football game 3 straight days. We like getting to a show right before start time and relaxing before. There was none of that for us. I also realized that no matter what song, I can’t get to the level I get when DSO plays dead or several of the other dead bands we like. We couldn’t push through the pain Fron climbing stairs like we could if dead was playing. On that note we will probably catch Phisj 3 shows im Nashville early October b/c we can do all 3 without her requesting any PTO as it’s a quick drive.

id love some Saturday night then a Sunday 2pm show then hop on an 8pm flight home lol. Unfortunately her boss sent this scathing memo about how no one can request off work anymore well in advance and they have to wait until closer to request off which is insanity. She also said no requesting off near a federal holiday until the week before. This hospital job won’t last long if they won’t let us off for music.  Besides beach week, every PTO day goes to music and dso besides a few exceptions. Having a young one it’s easier to deal with but as he gets older and easier to care for, we will be ready to hop on the bus for 9 days and see some shows.

  17. It’s been so strange after following these guys for over 10 years to see tours dropping like this. I don’t know what to make of it. Is there another connector? Is it just Saturday night for Atlanta too. I know many many peeps who haven’t been able to do shows b/c of late announcements or single shows where you don’t wanna make an 8 hour trip for 1 show. I don’t understand what’s up with scheduling unless they are doing private parties or something on Friday. I’d assume there’s an Atlanta connector but they did do that solo Boston show. I just want to see a whole list and figure it out before someone else requests off that day from her work and we’re out of luck.

hopefully with Deadco over and Billy mania possibly fading slightly, attendance will begin to pick up and dso can start doing 14 shows tours again.
