Caught JGB with Merl in the early 2000’s at the music pier in Ocean City, New Jersey. I’m not sure who the vocalist was, only time I ever saw him, but they covered Forever Young. I wouldn’t say he nailed it but obviously memorable.

So, the small band going through, are they beyond description?

Sounds like those shows were reminiscent of a few years back when Eaton had to tend to personal business. We got about six Jerry band shows. That was some pretty good lemonade. I took a rookie to a Phil and friends show late nineties. One nitrous hit too many and this chick is bent over at the waist and running full speed, down a slight slope, into the door of a small sedan, Head first. That drew a crowd, put a damper on the evening. She was covered in scrapes. So, I can relate and feel for ya. Bummer.

Is China/jam/rider the feelin’ groovy jam? Or did they stretch it out another way.

I caught a couple of his specials on Netflix or somewhere. You gotta pay attention and listen closely. Quick witted and dry. Clearly, he’s a fan of recreational drugs. How else are you going to make those observations? An expanded mind.

I agree with Found. The set list looks like a recreation, early eighties except maybe for Tom Thumb blues, not sure, until late in the show it must be an elective. Cool how DSO messes with us just like Grateful Dead did.

So many roads? Cheating sure makes this game a lot easier.

9/22/87, Spectrum, Hey Pocky Way show opener.

The beginning of the Brent era is the beginning of my Grateful Dead era. I was sat down and explained to by my roommate at college. The band had high expectations and great plans for the new keyboardist, probably combined with Keith and Donna leaving. I hear a new focus when listening to the first couple, few years with Brent. Some under the radar great shows in there. I think some of Jerry’s best is in this time. Maybe Brent refocused him. Also, the drugs and life hadn’t worn on him yet. I’ve seen shows where Jerry is just staring at Brent while he’s playing his guitar. To the point that we were commenting on it. Bobby loved Brent too. Hell, he even shared Little Red Rooster with him. Can’t not mention 100,000 Tons of Steel or Dear Mister Fantasy/Hey Jude. 7/12/90 RFK, my first Dark Star after ten years of waiting. They’re spacing out, noodling away out of Foolish heart, it was Brent’s keys that let me know it was coming. He was dead three weeks later. I was running a small marina at the time. People kept coming up to me and saying, hey, you had a death in your band. I was like, its ok, I just saw them and it was incredible.

Agree. I think the announcement might have something to do with the venue announcement. That’s a large geographic area to feed the needs of a lot of Deadheads. Gotta be more show announcements coming. Also, the second year at freeman stage seems to indicate that there’s no more Bottle and Cork. Damn, I’m gonna miss that uneven dance floor.

I’m not sure who’s in charge of handing them out, but I do believe it’s high time someone gave Bill K his doctorate in Grateful Deadology.

Caught James Taylor, ‘Shower the people you love with love’ over the PA in the drug store the other day and thought it would be a good Jerry Band cover.

It’s already a comeback. Eaton must be coaching him.

I read something yesterday where Tiger said he only enters tournaments that he thinks he can win. It’s going to be great to watch, no matter who comes out on top. As a gardener, I love the landscaping and grounds at Augusta, just beautiful.
