I didn’t say they deserved a playoff spot but I think they are one of the top 3 teams. They weren’t ready to play Michigan. That’s for sure but they were dominating teams all year. They lost game 1 to Oregon but OSU has been a notoriously bad team out of the gate in the past decade. They have some really bad wins in the opening weeks.

I agree. With a new freshman starting qb and revamped defense,  not a good year to start with a conference game on the road followed by a home game against a to 10 team. Tough start for Freeman next year playing a more veteran Ohio state at the start of the year. My Bearcats will be reloading after this year and starting at Arkansas,  that should be a test.

  2. I'll never forget that night. I was too young to go at the time but it certainly scared my folks enough that I was banned from going to shows. My friends and I had to sneak around to go to shows. It was a terrible tragedy and he definitely should have been held accountable.

  3. I really hope that Georgia beats Alabama but I'm nervous. When I've watched Alabama they haven't looked very good like a typical Alabama team. Georgia has looked great,  especially on defense,  but I'm not so sure about the offenses they have gone up against. We'll see. I just hope that my Bearcats win and get in. Very happy for Marcus Freeman at Notre Dame and that Fickel will be staying at Cincy at least until the Ohio State job opens up. Interested in your take on the Notre Dame coaching situation Desert Dad?

True that likely Bama won’t get in but they are only 6.5 point dogs. The game is on turf in a dome on a neutral field. Well it’s actually not very neutral as Bama dominates in the Georgia dome. Who would be the 4th team in if Bama loses?  It’s either Bama or Ohio state. Unfortunately we won’t get to see Bama vs Ohio state. Wanted to see that one. Cincy should be rhe 4 no matter who’s in as they are by far the easiest team who can be in the playoffs and Georgia deserves getting them.

I'd say with a Georgia win you would have:

    1. Georgia

    2. Michigan (assuming they win)

    3. Cincinnati (assuming they win)

    4. OK. St. (assuming they win)

A loss by any of 2-4 opens the door for Notre Dame. I wonder if they would put Notre Dame in ahead of Cincy if Cincy lost close?

  5. Don't Georgia and Florida play this week,  not Tennessee and Florida? I think 12 teams is too many for a playoff. They will need to get rid of conference championship games if you have 12 and teams will rest players late in the year when they know they are in. I think 6 or 8 would be much better to keep the excitement of the regular season. I love college football because the regular season games are so good. There are a lot of blowouts but in any window there are a couple tight games to follow and so many games can affect your teams chances to make the playoffs. This weekends slate looks great.

IMHO the Dew is what makes Cornell 77 a great show. I also agree that the earlier speedy versions don't work nearly as well,  the song needed to evolve over time. Stella seemed to be there right from the beginning. I have a soft spot for Comes a time since I caught a very good one in my first show even though I didn't know what the hell I was witnessing at the time.

Of course it’s great being 6-1. FPI has ND at 15th and cincy at 9th. Anyone in top 25 FPI can beat anyone not top 3 any given week. My only cincy point is the only top 40 team they play all year is ND. So is it fair they make a playoff vs say a Texas A&M who plays 7 top 25. The playoff needs to expand. In basketball it doesn’t matter if you are rank 3 or rank 30. You get a shot to prove you are the best. The SEC is refusing the 8 team playoff format especially adding Texas and Oklahoma. It would give 1 spot to all 5 conferences, 1 to an independent/mid major. That’s no good for a conference where you have so many teams that will beat up on each other because of the consolidation of top talent and now it’s about to get even worse. You are looking at half the top 25 recruiting classes all in 1 conference and yes teams with better talent beat up on ones with less. It’s why Ohio state dominates the big 10 now. It’s not great coaching. They have underperformed several years recently with talent second only to Alabama but they still rule the conference.

You can't just go by recruiting classes today because it gets redistributed through the portal. I'm an Ohio State fan (grew up in Ohio) and UC fan (alum). Ohio State brings in 4 and 5 stars every year and a lot don't see the playing time they expect and transfer, like Williams to Alabama,  but must go to good mid level teams like UC. UC has 2-3 players that will go in the first round of the draft this year and another couple that will go 2nd day. They can play with anyone this year. I hope they get the chance.

Who knew about these new OT rules?

    I saw PSU/IL 20-18 in 9OT and was

    like WTF?

BTW:  Alabama's student section has talent.

    Praise DSO.

I was thinking the same thing while watching that PSU/IL game. A lot of games turned out to be more interesting than expected yesterday,  that's what makes college football so great.

  9. At least you control your own destiny. Our classes have progressively gotten better in the Fickel era and don't forget about the transfer portal. I bet Penn St. wishes they still had Levis last Saturday

  10. I think Oregon, Oklahoma and Iowa will all lose a game down the stretch. Losing Verdell is huge for Oregon. As a Cincy alum, I sure hope we get a shot if we run the table. I think we can hang with most of the top teams and win with a few breaks. I think we could run the table in any league/ division except the two SEC divisions and big ten east. The one thing we are still a little behind on is building up offensive line talent,  we have some pretty good young guys but our like us so a year or two away.

Congrats on the win last week, though, 69!

You can bet I'll be cheering for the Irish the rest of the way

  12. It's about time to talk some football. The season is in full swing with fans in the stands. I'm personally more of a college fan than pro but am very happy to see my Bengals at least decent this year. So far so good on my Cincinnati Bearcats crashing the playoff party this year,  I don't think they'll get in even if they run the table but fun nonetheless.
