Gimme Some Lovin'> China Cat Sunflower>Rider> Playin' In the Band>Drums>Space>The Wheel> Playin' reprise>China Doll>Sugar Magnolia. E: Touch of Grey. A personal favorite from loosey, goosey 1985. One of four Day Trippers-ragged but right. Kudos to the Jerry first set selections, closing duo strong. GSL #7, Wheel out of space heavenly. Summer 85 a glorious time. Praise DSO.
  2. 22/06/10 In Dead Nation The Still, Timonium, MD Jack Straw, The Weight, Midnight Moonlite, Althea, Stagger Lee, Big River, Mr. Charlie, So Many Roads, Good Lovin'>La Bamba>Good Lovin'. Box of Rain, Feel Like A Stranger, Schoolgirl*, Race Is On*, Eyes of the World, China Cat Sunflower> I Know You Rider, Watchtower>New Speedway Boogie, Morning Dew. Lovelight*, Last Time, Ramble On Rose, Ripple. * w/ Lou on harmonica. The Dave Jacobsen Retirement Party delivers on all levels of emotion. An amazing guitarist and wonderful person sails off into the sunset with an epic performance in front of a deep rainbow of lovely people in the Baltimore Dead Head community. I found Dave in 2018 and missed few performances, Lou on harmonica had played with Dave in different bands for 30 years. Jack Straw just kills as a opener. Althea and Mr. Charlie first set stand outs. Stranger rocks, Eyes>China>Rider wicked triad. Third set a gravy boat, and all delivered flawlessly. The loving family feel between all in the crowd and the band a real special treat. So glad I made It. Love you Dave. Praise DSO.

    Caverns #1

China>Rider boss. Star>drums>Eyes Dreamy. Praise DSO.
  4. 22/05/17 Jefferson Theatre, Charlottesville, VA Original Recipe Help on the Way>Slipknot>Franklin's Tower, Masterpiece, Easy to Love You, Easy to Slip, Loose Lucy, Broken Arrow, Simple Twist of Fate, You Ain't Women Enough, Might As Well. Jack Straw, So Many Roads, Unbroken Chain> New Speedway Boogie>St. Stephen>Drums> Space>Corrina>Comes A Time>St. Stephen> Goin' Down the Road. E: Way You Do the Thing You Do. Slick elective fills a quirky old theater in front of an unsuspecting local audience. H-S-F a 'means business' opening sequence. Easy to Love You had boys checking the songbooks, Slip the twofer. Simple Twist not the JGB odyssey, 'tighter' version minus the bass solo. Lisa really nailed the Women Enough, everyone getting a chance at the mike in the first. MAW a lovely close. First bled into the second with opening pair, both delivered with conviction. The Unbroken>Speedway> Stephen the sweet gooey middle, UBC the launch point to a monster Speedway, the turn on a dime intro to the Stephen spectacular. Have caught Corrina here a couple times, it works. Found some balcony space for the Comes a Time, the Stephen reprise setting the table for a kicking Goin' Down the Road finale. Way You Do selection indicative of the carefully culled evening list. Thanks Band and Crew. On to the Caverns. Praise DSO.

China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider, Crazy Fingers> Uncle John's Band>Other One>Terrapin Station>Not Fade Away, Dupree's Diamond Blues, Sugar Magnolia. Hard To Handle, Mojo Working, Peggy-O, Deep Elem Blues, Touch of Grey, The Weight. The departing Dave Jacobson delivers a truly inspired performance on a murky Friday evening in Timonium. Extra chunky versions abound throughout. The Althea/ Catfish/Cumberland especially special, Big RR a band favorite and a raucous set close. Second set full of high quality standards, China>Rider a romp, full boar Other One, Sugar Mags brought down the house. First two of the third with guest on harp, super jam in the HTH. Deep Elem my personal highlight, Closing duo heavenly. So much fun. Thanks Band. Praise DSO.

E; Werewolves of London Locomotive comes roaring out of the station in a quaint old theater on mild Thursday evening in North East PA. Spent the first on the rail, a lovely position to watch the set unfold. Bob selections just mashed, funky intro to the All Over Now, Esau a romp, I dig Passenger in a big way, Stranger a strong set close. GSL fun drop to the second, solid Estimated. The Jam into the Star a sight to behold and a highlight of the evening. I lost my marbles on the Reuben, dreamy placement in the set. The ride home professionally delivered. Band just hit the ground running, look out May. Praise DSO.
  7. 22/05/06 InDeadNation The Recher, Towson, MD Truckin', Sugaree, Ramble On Rose, Loser, Stagger Lee, Memphis Blues, Tennessee Jed, Mexicali Blues, Loose Lucy. West LA Fadeaway, Jack Straw, Foolish Heart, Scarlet Begonias>Fire on the Mountain, Box of Rain, Ripple, Casey Jones, We Bid You Goodnight. A Friday rainy slough through rush hour traffic well worth the sacrifice for a couple sets from my favorite local Dead band. I had the dance floor to myself for long stretches and took full advantage. Jack Straw, Scarlet>Fire personal highlights. Venue's a bar that transforms to college bar at 10:00 when we finish up, interesting transition. I had three lovely coeds with me for the Casey Jones. Ah to be young. I tacked on the second set from 87/03/26 in the basement when I got home to cap the evening. See everyone in Strousburg. Happy Mother's Day. Praise DSO.

E: Black Muddy River. Rex Foundation benefit Last Race Is On: 86/05/03 [212] Happy Birthday to the pinnacle of my Grateful Dead shows. A perfect marriage of venue, headspace and band performance on a lovely Saturday afternoon in Palo Alto. Spent the afternoon within eyeshot of the Big Man, and had several looks shoot through me like a lightning bolt. Inspired performance throughout, ten song first, only China>Rider set close I saw, 1 of 2 Race Is Ons. Endless second set, Jerry MIDI breakout, Steve Parrish handing him a generic white guitar for the Space>Take You Home. A dreamy day. Praise DSO. https://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1989/05/06

Scarlet Begonias>Eyes of the World>Goin' Down the Road>Women Are Smarter>Drums>Space> The Wheel>Truckin'>Other One>Black Peter> Around and Around>One More Saturday Nite. E: Day Job. Have always enjoyed the lists that were being churned out in 1985, and this performance on a Saturday afternoon at the Frost no exception. Opening triad slick, Esau underrated fun, the closing triad another mini tour de force, love the late CRS. Opening three of the second what caught my eye and sent me down the wormhole. Amazingly the only Scarlet>Eyes, what a twofer. Goin' Down the Road attached to Eyes only three times, all in 1985 [2/18,4/27,6/27]. These types of list anomalies why I love 1985 so, and three Jerrys in a row to boot. Post space lengthy and chock full of goodies. Enjoy. Praise DSO. https://archive.org/details/gd85-04-27.sbd.jerugim.359.sbeok.shnf
  10. 22/04/16 InDeadNation, State Fare, Catonsville, MD Mississippi Half Step, Feel Like A Stranger>Franklin's Tower, Althea, Brown-Eyed Women, So Many Roads, Me and My Uncle> Big River, Shakedown Street. China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider, Terrapin Station, Harder They Come, Goin' Down the Road>Morning Dew, One More Saturday Nite. MY local Dead band provides the gambit of human emotion on a drizzly Saturday evening in Baltimore. Franklin's strong. Althea positively nailed. So Many Roads a work in progress and the Shakedown a boogie fest to close the first. The second a chunky delight, China>Rider superb, the Terrapin stirring, Goin Down the Road a favorite and the Dew inspired. At set break I was informed Dave Jacobsen, Jerry in an Orioles cap, is retiring to coastal NC to fish and enjoy the slow life. He will leave a huge gap in two Dead cover bands in MD and will be sorely missed. I spent the second set tearfully dancing in hysterics, reminded of how fragile all things are. If you have the chance to see him before he hangs it up, I would suggest it. Next up May 6 at the Rec Room in Towson, MD. Praise DSO.
  11. Many have far more knowledge than me. I'm just OCD with a hard copy of Dead Base. Praise DSO.

E: Black Muddy River. last Spoonful 87/09/07 [124] Peeking around the historic show at Cameron Indoor on this day in 78, let us glance at the final April 12 performance for the boys in the city of big shoulders. Never go wrong with Jack Straw as an opener, Cumberland always welcome. Star of the first the Let It Grow. Smokestack sandwich the memorable anomaly of the show, although the Smokestack section less than three minutes combined. A Dead Base dive revealed the sequence was also played on 84/11/02 at BCT. Further down the wormhole, that show also contained the first Gimme Some Lovin' and the last Casey Jones until the bust out at RFK in 92. Were you in the house Desert Dead? I enjoyed speakers in the hallways the night after my second row center hardwire with the Big Man. Praise DSO.
  13. 22/04/02 Palace Theater, Albany, NY Original Recipe Set One Hell In A Bucket, Let It Rock, Masterpiece, Loser Cumberland Blues, I'll Take A Melody, Deal, Masters of War, Box of Rain, One More Saturday Nite. Set Two Here Comes Sunshine>Greatest Story, Revolution, Feel Like A Stranger>Drums>Space>Corinna> Help on the Way>Throwin' Stones>Days Between> Slipknot>Franklin's Tower. E: Brokedown Palace. Well constructed elective sweeps up all in a journey of happiness and joy in the shadow of the NYE celebration on Friday. After struggling to find center at times during the first set, deep family love permeates the upper reaches of the balcony to deliver what we all hope to get out of a day on tour with DSO. Bucket a raucous flag drop to the proceedings, JGB selections a treat, the Melody especially fulfilling. The Cumberland its typical hoedown self. Lisa strong on the Masters, a commentary on world events that continued throughout the show. Saturday Nite a fine first set close. Sunshine a lovely choice, Skip especially strong. Old school Story with Lisa on vocals toward the end. Interesting placement on Revolution and Stranger--both worked well, the Stranger a sweat breaker heading into Drums, which were exceptional. Rob taking a solo for the last 5 minutes or so on the beam. Obviously Rob loves the Corinna, another different slot that was productive. Closing sandwich dreamy, the Days hypnotizing. The Franklin's a smile factory and boogie fest. Called the Brokedown at Cafe Madison during breakfast. I spent the evening with the best friends one could hope to dance with, I love each and everyone of you. Thanks Band and Crew, enjoy a few days off and safe travels to Skull and Roses. Praise DSO.

E: Baby Blue Filler: Sisters and Brothers. Recreation of 81/12/31 Oakland Auditorium Arena. An overflowing evening of music presented by our favorite band in a grand old hall on a chilly April 1 in New York's capital. Friends and smiles abound at every locale. The solo Jeff material was with the lights on and a very chic way to ease into the night. Shakedown a ripping opener. Cold Rain appropriate, the Big Boss Man a first set highlight. The Iko a glee fest in the aisle at the top of the floor with many loved ones. Terrapin a inspiration. The Drums from the balcony an overload of the senses. The post drums energetic and shredded-- Skip dropping the bombs during the Other One. Goin' Down the Road a favorite, and the Dew well executed. Balloons held up for a moment before crashing down during the Star, a great way to start the New Year. Closing pair a romp. Fabulous show. Loving friends. Thanks band and crew. Praise DSO.
  15. 22/03/26 The National, Richmond, VA Original Recipe Set One St. Stephen>Not Fade Away>St. Stephen, Corinna, So Many Roads, Masterpiece, Who Was John, You Ain't Women Enough, Broken Arrow, Bird Song> Not Fade Away. Set Two Scarlet Begonias>Fire On the Mountain, Women Are Smarter>Gimme Some Lovin'>He's Gone>Drums> Space>Low Spark>Standing on the Moon, One More Saturday Night. E: The Weight, White Rabbit. Rob Barraco's stool breaks after YAWE. Happy Birthday for attendee before Scarlet. Saturday tour closer in combination with the all powerful elective proves to be a lethal combination for a sold out venue in Richmond. First set a layer cake of delight, the St. Stephen jumping off a joy. Later material lovingly delivered. Thankfully Rob Ok after stool gives out from under him after Woman Enough. Bird Song drove me to Balcony hall for unlimited space and the pop back into NFA a nice first set bow. Called the Scarlet>Fire on the Metro coming home from Anthem, it did not disappoint. After a few steps with Meili during the Women, popped Rude into my balcony aisle floorspace and retreated to the hallway. Low Spark a fully developed slinky journey. Standing on the Moon spiritual ecstasy, Saturday Nite a ripping close. Double encore the cherry on top of this monster. I spent the evening with dear friends old and new, I love every one of you. Much thanks band and crew, enjoy a couple days of rest. Praise DSO.
  16. Way back in 2002, our band did a three show run at State Theater in Falls Church, VA on 10/31,11/1,11/2. The first two shows of that run were 10/31/85 and 11/1/85 (which was absolutely hammered). The third night was elective. Nice of them to tie up the loose end on that triad last night at the Anthem. Praise DSO.

Iko-Iko, Estimated Prophet>Uncle John's Band> China Doll>Drums>Space>Morning Dew> Throwin' Stones>Lovelight. E: Baby Blue. Filler: Golden Road. Family gathering at our nation's capital. Even on a Friday evening the Anthem provides Julie Andrews space on the floor. First set Jerry selections lovely, the Althea especially sweet. Jerry juice continued in the second on either sides of Drums/Space-- the Dew killed. Lovelight with Kaitlin dreamy and the Baby Blue with Melli, Sunny, and Rude heaven sent. The Golden Road had me jumping for joy. Thanks Band and Crew. On to Richmond. Praise DSO.

Uncle John's Band>Saint of Circumstance>Eyes of the World>Jam>Drums>Space>Other One> Wharf Rat>One More Saturday Nite. E: Baby Blue. Filler: I Fought the Law. Lisa sang Rob B. parts due to laryngitis. Our band slays a chunky recreation for a solid crowd on a Monday evening. Tom Thumb started out on Yuengling then I hit the harder stuff, going back to Dauphin county I do believe I've had enough. Deal an absolute monster. Eyes a dreamy spin scape and the Jam into Drums covered some unique ground. Skip front and center during the Other One, the Wharf Rat slinky, and the Saturday Nite a romp. We had an amazing group weaving a tapestry of joyful dance all evening. I love you all. Praise DSO.
