Spring? Summer? New lineup? Fall? The one thing I do know is DSO will continue for many, many years. The musicians will change over time but dark star orchestra will continue playing dead for a while. In 20 years it may be just Dino and 6 other musicians or Dino may take over for Duane Trucks in Panic or Barraco may become Bieber’s keyboardist which is the best gig wink wink(ID verification required). Was just joking with a buddy that you play dead because you love it. You definitely don’t play dead for the chicks. It’s definitely better than being in Rush or a rush tribute which is a 99% dude audience and the few chicks in attendance are wanting to play D&D backstage but not in the fun dungeon role playing way. Now I’m afraid I’ll get Dave chapelled. Making guy jokes are anathema to many now. Being sexist in a kindhearted way is no big deal. That would be a better birthday party a month late. Is all dead too much dead? Hmm. We saw circles around the sun after deadco boulder and after an hour of that you have your fill forever. Sorta like dead Muzak. It’s a cool background in an elevator but a whole show, ehhh. I think I remember PG talking us into going and she stayed like 15 minutes and split. We made it like 45 mins and was like later.

A 1 off show seems strange considering the costs to truck their shit out there unless they are on their way to cali and figure the truck has to go through there anyway so might as well do a show. But if they were going to do say 2 boulder theater shows connected they would maybe announce it with these? we are looking for our 50/30 birthday weekend in March and was hoping we’d get lucky with a 3 day weekend of dso. Panic is doing 3 shows on her 30th in Vegas which seems fun even though it’s not dead so not as much a crank turner but it is Vegas where you are cool to do what you want as long as you don’t drive drunk at 156mph and kill a dog. Oh and a person.

I hope everyone who’s never been there got to go. That place is a GD museum. Floor to ceiling posters and memorabilia, literally. Every inch of that place has dead posters and art and it’s mostly all for sale if the offer is right. A well timed kitchen fire at Beonkey’s that didn’t damage any art helped set this place up

We wanted to be there but we are just lucky we got away this weekend for a pair. Everything we do now is a last second decision. We plan on doing Atlanta. Have the hotel next door booked, but it’s not a guarantee we go. We talked about Ft Lauderdale but had to pick and Atlanta made more sense even though I’d love to wear shorts outdoors and stay in south beach lol.

10/29/21 Hyryder Riverfront Live (indoor) Cincinnati, OH they recreated 10-31-79. Small crowd with the bad weather but all Deadicated. Wish I was in Denver lol. Duck and AC in attendance. Guess toomuchfun is in Denver. they said tomorrow night is a doozy of a Halloween recreation. Anyone have an idea on an early Halloween show potential is?

I’m a stat nerd. This shits fun for me. Spreads have always fascinated me. You see a crazy one that you are like that can’t be true and they are dead on. I think that FPi site is pretty crazy. It’s dead on with upcoming spreads. I was doing a test with a buddy before the next weeks spreads came out and it was within 1-2 points of each spread subtracting 1 teams FPI index from the others. I just want a 12 team playoff. I want to see a team like Ole Miss get a shot. Having to mostly go undefeated isn’t realistic for teams outside of the ACC this year and even there it won’t happen but there are teams who are great but lost a game. I think 2025 is when a 12 team is projected to start. Win or go home games are so intense. and actually the SEC was 7-2 last year and 8-2 in bowl games in 2019 and have at least a 60% win rate vs any other conference and they even schedule games like SEC 5 vs ACC 2. Top to bottom it’s the best every year of the last 15 years. They may not have THE best team but the depth is crazy and they pull 10 of the top 20 recruiting classes every year. Tennessee is 4-4 and that’s a team no one wants to play. They lost so many close games vs top teams. They will beat Florida this weekend. That’s my prediction.

That is true. But Georgia’s defense is mostly 5-star starters and the rest 4’s. It’s why it’s the best defense college has seen since bamas single digit average points allowed D. It’s also why Georgia’s front 4 will all be 1st and 2nd round picks which is unprecedented. I don’t see how Ohio state didn’t jump Oklahoma in the AP poll. The Kansas win is really a loss for Oklahoma and now Ohio state is blowing teams out. The AP poll is pretty much win loss record. Iowa state was a 7 point fav over 8 rank Oklahoma state and when ISU won they called it an upset when it was far from that. Right now Ohio state would be a 8-10 point fav over Oklahoma. I’m no OSU fan but they have skill players and skill players win games. I see the playoff assuming Oklahoma wins out being Georgia v Oklahoma and osu v cincy. Both of those are bad matchups. Cincy vw Oklahoma is a close one and Georgia v Ohio state would only be a 3 point spread at this point. But if you flip those it’s 2 10-14pt spread games. Osu has Michigan which will be their only test and that’s gonna be a 7 pt spread on 1 last note. No team has won the national championship that didn’t consistently recruit top 5 classes. It is all about talent to be the best. You can beat others lacking talent but not win it all. Bamas loss to Texas A&M wasn’t a huge upset considering A&M had 3 straight 6th ranked recruiting classes. They feed the NFL talent. Skill players make plays and you get beat sometimes. Ohio state lost to an Oregon team that has started putting together consistent top 10 classes and pulled a 3rd rank class. Penn states loss to Illinois was a no excuse game. Illinois is slow slow slow.

Of course it’s great being 6-1. FPI has ND at 15th and cincy at 9th. Anyone in top 25 FPI can beat anyone not top 3 any given week. My only cincy point is the only top 40 team they play all year is ND. So is it fair they make a playoff vs say a Texas A&M who plays 7 top 25. The playoff needs to expand. In basketball it doesn’t matter if you are rank 3 or rank 30. You get a shot to prove you are the best. The SEC is refusing the 8 team playoff format especially adding Texas and Oklahoma. It would give 1 spot to all 5 conferences, 1 to an independent/mid major. That’s no good for a conference where you have so many teams that will beat up on each other because of the consolidation of top talent and now it’s about to get even worse. You are looking at half the top 25 recruiting classes all in 1 conference and yes teams with better talent beat up on ones with less. It’s why Ohio state dominates the big 10 now. It’s not great coaching. They have underperformed several years recently with talent second only to Alabama but they still rule the conference.

Cincinnati has less 4 star players on their team than Kentucky recruited just last year. Cincinnati’s 2019 recruiting class was rank 89. They had only a handful of 3* players. If you battle teams with talent and you lack talent, eventually you will lose.....unless your only game with a top 50 ranked team is notre dame whos not that good. When you list Indiana as one of your hardest games, your schedule is garbage. Michigan vs Ohio state will determine who wins the big 10. Iowa won’t be competition for either of those. That big 10 west is trash. Michigan state is a product of a really bad schedule. I wouldn’t doubt they lose 3 games this year, but penn state has fallen apart after that Iowa game they had handled until they lost their QB. He’s back but he’s not the same. You don’t lose to Illinois and score only 10pts in regulation vs a team like that.

Put the ball at the 2. At the 3 is too much for 2 inept offensive teams. for such a horrible day on paper, 2 bottom 10 fpi teams in navy and Kansas almost upset 2 “top 5” teams. Oklahoma has looked bad all year. Cincy showed how a team who’s highest ranked recruiting class in at rank 39 can’t be consistent enough to battle the top teams or Georgia, Alabama and Ohio state. the FPI has Georgia, Bama and ohio state at least 7-10 point favorites over everyone else. Those 3 teams are head and shoulders above the rest of football. Oklahoma was a 40pt favorite over lowly Kansas and almost lost. There was a point where Michigan, Oklahoma, penn state and Cincinnati’s total points scored was less than navy, Kansas, Illinois and northwestern combined.

Sock cap and coat weather. I like a bundled up show. If you know in advance just put a thermal layer and get your groove on and be warm. When I was young I never prepared. I’d have a t-shirt on when 45. Now have nice thermal gear(smart investment) and ready for bad weather. Jubilee 2 fucked me up. I swore I’d never be unprepared like that again. That was brutal. I thought I’d never warm up. Took an hour in a 0 degree bag mummified to warm up the night 1. Had every layer of clothes I had on me on.

Perfect weekend for shows if there were any. Worst college games ever and I mean maybe ever. Pure trash mashups. Clemson and Pitt May be the best game. That’s just sad. Homecoming/bye week. Ugh. Every good team is playing the worst team. Michigan v northwestern. Blah. Penn state v Illinois. Ewww. Oklahoma v Kansas. Wtf. Cincinnati v navy. Ohio state v Indians. All time worst week ever. Bama v tennessee is compelling b/c tennessee will keep it within 14. That’s the good game....... bad bad week of college football.

I remember we skipped that show. It was over $50 a ticket and last night of jazz fest(after eating at Felix’s every other meal and going WAY over budget, $100 was a chunk). We decided to hit blue nile on the cheap and call it an early night. I think we had to be up at 7am to get you to Memphis airport the next day and Whitney back to our neck of the woods. Made that drive all the way home without getting tired. I think that year 1 of jazz fest blew my mind with all the options and how fucking amazing it is that there was no getting tired on the drive. It was like a post show glow but bigger. Each year after that we kept adding more days until fucking covid wrecked it. After 8 days I fell out in 2019. Literally peeps had to hold me up. My liver said let’s get the fuck out of here. 8 days of nola living like a rock star was too much. I remember Barraco saying on stage in 2017 something like if you stay more than a few days down here this place will kill you. It’s jubilee with better food and a bed. FYI that may have been when you fell in love with Whitney but think she was a bit behind you on that from her convo with meili on the way home 😜. All worked out though.

Does anyone really have anything other than bits or pieces of memories from 30yrs ago. I have little flashes of memories from back then but no real memories. I’ve noticed with the gf taking pictures, they seem to reinforce memories if we look back on them. During early covid lockdown we went through all the pics and vids from shows and feats over 6 years. They triggered the memories I had forgotten and seemed to solidify them. Of course very little pictures were taken in the heat of the night as we were in the moment. Maybe 1 jazz fest pic after 2am even though then til dawn was the peak action lol. I always complain when I’m forced to pose for a pic but a few years later I see that pic and am glad it was taken. The general rule is I have to pose for 1 couple pic every show. After that my photo duties are over. It feels like torture but I do it.

2 people fell over the rail at different times at the Phish show in San Fran. 1 died. The other fell over the rail and landed on someone and both went to the hospital. Wow.

Heard a rumor if phish cancels and doesn’t play Madison Square Garden that Dso may. Just a rumor. Lots of variables involved. Kyrie won’t be there though. $180mil wasn’t enough money for him to come off his flat earth theory. How can we trust astronauts. We know the moon landing was faked. The whole thing was done in a super secret sound studio at Warner Brothers. Why are they trying to hide that the earth is flat. What is the government up to. Is the entire New world order behind it?
