I can assure you we will keep giving our all everynight no matter if we play for 100 or 100,000. All bets are off when we start playing for crowds larger than that;-)

So is the 100k+ show the rumors I’ve been hearing about Dso and the Stones doing a 50yr anniversary of altamont in 2019 complete with a 1 foot tall stage. You will need security. I’ll bring my pool cue.

  2. This was the 1st show where a band member seemed to be having more fun than everyone in the crowd. Rob K was grinning ear to ear the whole show. I thought it was awesome. You can’t fake the enthusiasm he was showing. Playing a 40yr anniversary show to a sold out redrocks audience has to Dso’s bands pinnacle if not most or all of individual members’. Playing with many of the original members has to be highlights, but as a tribute band all by themselves to sell out 9500 seats with a nugs broadcast which would have to be their largest viewship as well at home, this is an outstanding accomplishment and I don’t think I’ve seen the band have this much outward fun ever. Eaton was full Bobby rockstar the whole show too. Mattson was sporting a The Clash shirt which was prob the equivalent of a Jerry red shirt. I thought the musical highlight was how the 50 person family drums with all the kids was ended perfectly on 1 note. How hard is that!!! Having your kids and grandkids playing with you had to be a lifetime memory as well.

Bravo DSO!!!! You guys were stellar.

  3. Epic time. Adding a Dso 3 song encore to the 3 encore show was a real treat. On the omsn I thought Eaton said “president dumb ass comes on the news” but couldn’t be sure. It was so fast to fit it in I couldn’t be certain. I think the show was 4:20 start to finish. Can’t wait til next year. I definitely will never do a 6200 mile road trip again lol.

  4. Wow. That’s sort of my life. Crazy. My clients send me things they want and I just forward it to my Chinese factory even though they know I’m outsourcing the production. That dude needs to do dead tour because he’s got it figured out!!

  5. I’m looking like I’m gonna need 3 months off to heal. When you are to the point that the pain is too much to stand it’s time to re-evaluate.( I can walk but standing still or dancing is excruciating) I just haven’t had enough down time since the injury 5 months ago. 2 weeks off at most. I’m fine to start usually but by the end I need bed rest. I blame Gr8tfulpair and PG for their relentless peer pressure. Luckily we are in a free lot already right next to shoreline. Short walk. Slanted lawn.......I’ll get a chair and be the only one sitting. I have about 5 minutes of dance before the pain but on a slant I have none.

Scorty will easily take me but I’ve also gotten 5 JRAD in this year and doing these deadco in the bay plus Phil and a local dead band. I like getting some diversity. Offered him a free place to stay and ride to the shoreline shows and he rejected it. I thought it was a pretty solid offer.  I Even hung out with lots of moe people who evidently flew in from all over the country for 4 shows at TXR but 4 shows in same spot will bring the faithful of that band. Personally I’d love to see a week of Dso at the beach park at txr. That would be a great week in the bay ;)  You Marin guys have some epic weather. When it’s cloudy east bay it’s perfectly sunny there. Guess that’s why homes are 1k/sq ft.

  6. John A guessed the show before it started. Smart reasoning. His app he wrote the day before analyzes Eaton’s setlists. The program spit out 3 possible shows and the 7/7/78 made the most sense. No songs from that show played the previous night. 7/8 to be played next show plus Promotion for redrocks.

I’m trying to create a program that answers my emails and handles all my work. Im sure Facebook has enough data on me they could be me. I need a Westworld version of myself but wonder if he’d be as lazy and just want to live a life of leisure. A.I. would malfunction all the time as it would be like hold up can he be this irresponsible.  This behavior is outside my parameters.

  7. You figure it’s gonna be a good show when Eaton is wearing a yellow Weirhol shirt(4 image Warhol design with bobby’s head with text that read Weirhol). If he ever busts out the 80’s Jean shorts we are in for a doozy. I miss jean cutoff days. I had this pair that was perfectly frayed and really worn in. Wore those almost every day one summer.

  8. If u get the 2 day pass they just give u your will call each day so you will need tonight’s ticket from will call if you got it that way.

And that carmel ocean drive is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Pebble beach on 1 side. Cliffs on the other.  I told Scotty he had to go take that 10 minute drive but he wouldn’t bite. He missed maybe the prettiest view on the run to far. There’s more to life than just concerts Scott. There are the must see sights before the show and that Carmel drive was a must see.

  9. Nowadays it’s hard to sneak to the front. They have to protect the people who spend $500 on their ultra vip pit as well as the vip pit and then the economy plus pit. If I get in a big gig early I usually go to where my seats are then spy out empty areas to move to. I want my own row at least if not my own section if that’s possible at the bigger shows.

  10. The staff continuously updated us on the status of the blackout and even came through and banded everyone early so once doors opened we could pretty much walk right in. They also said they could extend the curfew to as late as 1:30 if needed which was crucial. Many venues would not extend the close like that. Kudos to UC theater management for making the show work. They even said if power wasn’t restored they could do the show Sunday. They knew what they were doing and did the best job I could imagine under the circumstances.

Was supposed to be doors 7 show 8

became doors 8:20 show 9:00-1:00. I love this city because inside the venue it’s anything goes. By the end we just kept the bottle of Michters on the table. There’s no where else where so much flower is smoked than Berkeley. Everywhere else people mostly sneak vapes. This place fires it up with zero hassles. Was the 1st Dso show where I got really drunk at lol. I was stumbling out and it took some late night burger and shake to get me walking straight. Straight barrel proof Michters KY whiskey was the ticket.  Hey John are we sneaking in that 11yr KY Owl tonight?

The worst part was getting in line early to grab a table and standing in line for 2 hours. On a positive note I was able to dance a little after my AstroTurf injury in sandiego. AstroTurf has taken down the best of athletes. Initially it looked like super manicured grass at humphreys. It was actually super grippy plastic turf. When I was making a cutback to avoid a tackler the ankle just turned as the foot was turf locked. I didn’t take out that $9 ticket insurance like it begs you to do every time or I’d be hooked to electrodes with high tech nfl rehab to get me back on the field. Pretty sure if you pay 40% of your ticket cost in insurance, it has good benefits.

  11. The venue was like stadium seating. Thete were like 8 or so rows on this medium light slant then the next 15 rows were stadium movie style with flat spots to dance on. There were no seats under the “balcony”. Was just a super cool venue. The sound was fantastic as it will be in any theater with proper acoustical dimensions. I went to the very back row and the sound was as loud as you could want it. Upon entry it’s like a movie theater soda popcorn and candy retro look. If you wanted anything there you had no line. For beer it was 50 deep for 2 bartenders. That cost the theater a bunch. Up high we would once in a while have people coming up looking for their seats in the dark in a 1/4 filled back of the balcony and to ease their confusion I’m like it’s a free for all. Just pick a block of empty seats. I don’t think back in the day unless you were up front did u worry about a seat. Whenever I see my seat taken at some bigger show I just look for other seats. Seat numbers are generally just a suggestion unless you are up close or something.

  12. With a bum foot I’ve actually enjoyed sitting for a few shows. It’s a different feel. You don’t get the runners high of high energy dance but you also leave without fatigue ;).  Every venue so far has been super liberal about letting people do what they want. No aisle hassling like you can get in other areas. When your usher is vaping you know it’s gonna be a no hassle show. Everything here is way more laid back than the east. Been fantastic so far.

    Laissez le bon temps rouler.

Great set list was offset by lame seated crowd .  Vibe was that of a funeral or church service

With the few Happy fans scattered about annoying the morning crowd

    wouldn’t do that venue again

I think it was just older and people didn’t want to block people watching. If u wanted to get down you had lots of aisle space to do it. It had the feel of a community concert vs a dead crowd. I bet most there lived in Carmel. That’s a gorgeous retirement town.

plus there were 2 new rider songs with David Nelson plus hand jive before it went all Dso.

This show was hot. Nursing my wounds I just had a couple beers during the show and sat in the balcony and my face was melted off the whole time.  That hard to handle was a mind blender. I’ve had this working theory for a while. Doesn’t matter what u do at a show you are going to leave with a scrambled mind from the music.

Ultra heater!!!! Fantastic performance by Dso.

  16. Fantastic show. Was mostly seated. Very strange crowd for Dso. But the aisles were crazy spinning. It was a surreal look from the balcony. Seats sitting while aisles dancing crazy. We were in the very back of the balcony and the sound was epic with a big plateau to dance on. Just got internet after 2 days in Yosemite. It was soooo peaceful!!!!!!!! I want to build a house on Tenaya lake and just live out my days there. I’d be stuck for 6 months of winter every year and they generally frown upon new construction in a national park, but besides those 2 things I’d be set.

  17. On a funny note we hung out with the heady version guy. He was giving out stickers.  So there’s an actual human behind that.

Scotty said something and I joked to the heady guy that Scotty will make a bot to get all 1995 versions ranked 1 if you don’t comply lol.

  18. Scottie asked me to keep the setlist since I have digital technology vs a literal notepad. I did 1st set then I forgot after that eyes to do 2nd. 1st time I’ve seen them open a set with eyes. No noodling to start. Hard open. Was cool. Seemed to take people a few to get what was going on. They way my head has it was they didn’t even tune aloud but just start all band right into the eyes but music details are always fuzzy.

Unfirtunately my feet are starting to fall apart. I’m going to have to have the venue bring me one of those really tall seats like They brought Bill Walton. We were dancing next to him 2nd set and we didn’t want to be fanboys but Meili wanted a pic with him but we wanted to let him enjoy the show without the hassle. It seemed he really loved talking to people who came to to him during setbreak.

Tonight im breaking out my knee high compression socks. The fashion out here seems to be nice flip flops but I’m going nba basketball player compression socks for utility not style. I’ve ruined these puppies over the past 2 years. Dancing abuse and age.....

  20. I just don’t get the deadco infatuation. I guess if you don’t want to shake your bones it’s ok but if u wanna dance the tempo ain’t there. You do have a shitload more energy after their show than Dso though. I never feel sore post deadco. They are very psychedelic but I need tempo. I want that runners high where I’m dripping wet and my heart is beating out of my chest. What’s weird is I had fun at the 5 deadco shows I saw last year but watching that tour opener free stream made me despise it. It’s a live in person only event in my opinion. You get the epic sound system and light show but at home I’ll play dead. Unfortunately Dso can’t fill football stadiums because that jubilee type sound system is epic. I love the big sound. We canceled seeing deadco tomorrow in Cincy after watching how the band has regressed. It sucks missing a “local” show but gonna see hyryder in Evansville Friday then lots of Dso 2 weeks later (and 2 deadco shoreline but I’m looking at it as a big party).

Ooooh and on CashorTrade a nice lady found my post looking for a pair of tix to moe and Phil July 1 at TXR and it’s not an easy ticket transfer. 1st time there for me. Sunday afternoon outdoor show!!!  Now my summer tour is fully booked!!! Booyah. 11 shows. 7 in 7 days is gonna be rough as both my feet are pretty damaged after jubilee. Honestly I don’t know if I can handle Dso tempo anymore. My body is fighting back. But many of Dso summer are reserved seating and I may actually take advantage of that. I was telling someone at jubilee that I can handle people looking at me thinking I’m a weirdo dancing but if I’m sitting and they are like this guy doesn’t get it, my self esteem can’t handle that. The weirdest feeling I’ve had in the last year was when my legs gave out with the flu during JRAD Madison(literally the muscles refused to fire). During I know you rider, I was THE only person in the venue sitting.  I felt so weird. Too much of everything wasn’t enough anymore to keep me moving. I couldn’t even balance myself. The fatigue was so overwhelming. But the only thought I had was someone is like that guy doesn’t get it or he’s not a deadhead. My self esteem these days can handle about anything but that. Weird how our minds work.
