  1. Cortina was fun when dead played it. I love that effect rob b had on his keys. That was nuts. It’s was like an echo that kept moving up the scale or was that just him manually creating that effect. His fingers were at light speed during it.

Hep C ?? Ew. More like Jukebox radio  waves 🎶🌊🎶🌊🎶🌊🎶🌊🎶🌊🎶🌊🎶🌊🎶🌊🎶 across the universe.

Did you see the men’s bathroom floor?

That’s uncanny. I was sitting in a punk rock bar in Nola on May 5th listening to it for the first time in years out of a jukebox. My buddy played it for our listening pleasure. We spun 10 songs out of that jukebox at 3 am. Beer and a shot for $5. I drank my favorite, Frangelica iced. Sitting under a grim reaper suspended from the ceiling and a taxidermy of a shark head eating a piranha. No quarter in that place. 😇👻

Whats weird is it was 3am on 5/5(Friday late night technically 5/5)so it was played at the abbey and must have sent telepathic waves using the hep c in the bar as a conduit to JM and friends. The year before I don’t think our party caught any diseases either. 3rd time will be the charm.

  4. What a show. I left it all out there in that 2nd set. When I got home my ankle was swollen like a grapefruit. I stayed on that viola high hat all the way to the infinity tempo. Think I was bouncing at 240 beats a minute and my body yesterday said this is what you get. I think I got all I needed for at least a few weeks. May skip deadco cincy in 6 days because my cup overfloweth and that can only be a huge letdown after jubilee. Dso pretty much spoils us. I also thought Dso went their own style a lot more this weekend than normal. The last 2 shows were very creative, not saying they aren’t always very creative but you got a sense that they were crafting these with more of their own personal touches. Fantastic time as always. Now to start figuring out the next shows.

  5. That no quarter space was epic. Did you guys do a Floyd lick in there as well. I couldn’t think of the song but I’m like that’s definitelu Floyd or a Floyd-esque riff. That sound system sounded amazing during that space. Thought would be just a tease but no. They ripped an instrumental no quarter loud. Awesome again. Thank u guys. U are awesome!!!!!

  6. Fun tired time. Thankfully that show finished with 2 of my fav 3 closers instead of them doing a dancin or mns filler. That would have been rough. I had a little wisdom imparted on me yesterday—ez ups ain’t easy to put up and whoever named them that is a liar!!

  7. U doing jubilee right sml?  I assume yes since it would be silly to be going west and not.  Will be good to see u since u always skip the south. Unfortunately missing the south this year meant u missing an ultra unique tour. It’s time u started doing them ALL!!! You can’t let this happen again. I have faith that you can pull off 2 straight years of 100% attendance. Even chuck couldn’t pull that off in his heyday and now MC is only part time. We are depending on you so we can live vicariously through you. There’s only 1 couple I know of that’s done them all this year, but we need you to be that full time imbedded reporter. I even have an old iPhone I’ll give you to keep setlists on. U up for the challenge?  Think of the memoir you could write!!

  8. Any show that starts MNS means you are in for some dancing!! That looks near perfect. And the filler was one of my 3 perfect show closers(ripple and brokedown being the other 2). Looks like a great time was had :)

I’m definitely ready for some good ole Grateful Dead!!!!

Keep in mind, we dont try to make the mistakes those guys made nor copy their stage banter. 😉

Except when “John Kahn” joined you guys in Charleston ;)

  10. Electives are the only way for Dso to play the depths of the dead catalog. At least dead50 did a 60s show. After 69 you never got a viola. All those great songs the dead stopped playing can only be heard through electives besides a few 2 set recreations as the dead mostly played 1 set like modern artists with opening bands in their early days. Dso only plays like 3 69 shows a year. I regret every time I see one listed as that’s 1 less shot I get of seeing one.

Hoping for a 69 miracle at jubilee!! We got 2 straight years I think of a 69 show then a few years since.

  11. My point was that you can’t always tell if it’s a recreation or original, so why be upset if it’s original. It wasn’t an attack on anyone.  I used the alligator/unbroken chain analogy as they were 26 years apart from being played with unbroken chain only played in 95 and alligator never after 69. I thought the 73 original from Wilmington was an actual 73 as they strictly adhered to songs that were only 73 songs or songs not really played after for 20 years and played none that were 1st played after 73. It was a trickster set unless someone (like tea) knows every single set played in that year.

“ I don't go to see DSO to see their creativity come through.”

i reallt dont know ehat to say.🙉

Guess people think you guys transcribe dead shows and then perfectly play the transcription......

the funny thing is that in a show like this, the dead could have performed this and only a song or 2 is a giveaway that this is an original and unless you know dead really well you couldn’t tell an original from a recreation .  Most shows I go to I hear people in the bathroom say do you know what year the show is even when you have an unbroken chain and alligator.

    Keep making these epic setlists!!!!

Edit:  but a courtesy heads up would be great so we can hop a flight ;)

I object, check the Boston thread 👮👮

Unfortunately there were 2 separate posts for that one so it nullified all your good work ;).  Just kidding about all of this because the southerners went into this northeast tour with very little forum setlist expectation so you guys didn’t disappoint. Keep trying and I bet u guys can get there with only 3-4 missing songs by the next show. Maybe you can get a second that wonton. That’s a fun one.

I haven't seen you outright volunteer just yet, but perhaps a little custom hardware will help push you in the right direction.

I think that calls for an appropriate uniform. People feel better when they know order is being maintained. And Spandex is flexible when a move needs to busted.
