Dead & Company Announce 60th Anniversary shows
deadheadmike replied to Tea's topic in Random Thoughts
dead and co is so slow its painful , what I've seen anyway. Billy Strings is the real deal, I've been watching him for a few years now from my couch and I really like him. -
been laying low for bit and spending time getting old lol ,,, and and suffering limits also such as work and no time for nothing but work for some reason , that needs to change ... the DSO schedule is not lining up for me either right now , just missing the Atlantic City show by a little , I'm driving cross country from cali to nj in sept and back , hoping something pops up along the way.

We got to do axial tilt in 2019 both nights. Was like 5.5 hours start to finish. They played so long they went through the after party and after after party slots. It’s 9-1a then 2a-5a standard slots and they did 10-330a. By the end we were on that 2nd level in the comfy couches. 8 days of Jazz fest is a death wish. A dude punched me in the liver and he broke his hand.

now that’s a rookie move. Gotta get inside the circle in Columbus b4 you stop. Every year we’d hit the same Waffle House after merges and other interstates hit. For 15 miles you’re at the mercy of I-70 profiling. Legal weed gives them less probable cause but those troopers don’t care about due process. “What did you just throw back there. I’m searching the car”.

Been a minute since I’ve seen you here or at a show. Hope you are in one of the ebbs and flows with lots of shows. Life has limited my travel lately. Hopefully by fall things will settle down and I can plan some shows.

Deadco going after Johnny blue skies(Sturgill) Saturday will be like going from 3/5 a mile in 10 secs to 2 miles in 3 hours. Never a good idea to go after a band that’s gonna smoke the tempo in full guitar melt with maybe 1-2 hard stops in 90 minutes. The dead was psychedelic but limited. Billy makes sense going from accoustic to electric after but Sturgill would be a better late night set

I want to see Billy Strings , but at a small venue ... I watched a couple videos of dead and co at the sphere and I'm not into it , venue and band to be honest. -
summer's here and the time is right ... how's everyone doing ???

Bummed to miss it but so thankful for the stream! Nothing like seeing it live but caught a glimpse of the Magik and boy did DSO ever deliver 😮 Really looking forward to Atlanta > Asheville next weekend - it’s been a minute 😊

The eye of the dance storm was located between Drums and Iko, I’m guessing. Not present. Planting beans. Spent the day watching the circular track of the plow in the furrowed fields.
-
Skip had some Mission Control issues but then laid down some epic Skip bombs on Terrapin and Wharf Rat.
-
Inspirational thoughts of friends dancing up a storm. Praise DSO.

“Becoming Led Zeppelin” is worth the watch. They really carved their own path!

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! The spirit of shirking off the status quo in the face of creativity is everything! A fascination with the Beatnik movement and how it impacted American culture to normalize the freedoms we inherently should embrace and throw off the prejudices and fear of Puritanical morays made me the person I am. Robert Hunter, the Grateful Dead and others like Dylan fomented this movement and gave its voice. Dylan had his finger on the pulse of it all, voiced it and struggled alone with his genius, I think, trying to reconcile the complexity of our culture and the impact of what he saw, how he was received and where it went from there. Ah, the tortured artist…
