T for Texas is a verse in the so called "All New Minglewood Blues" (as opposed to the New Minglewood Blues which dates to 1966) that The Dead recorded for the Shakedown Street album which was recorded in late summer of '78. So presumably T for Texas was in live versions by then. Rude, now that you have a little more spare time, and every version of Minglewood at your finger tips, your assignment is to listen to them sequentially starting from 4-16-78 and report back as to when that verse appears.

This was a pre Tea for Texas but early enough in 78 for a Scarlett fire. Was a tad confusing whether it was a recreation or not. The place got down. Was lots of room and when you give deadheads open carry booze and lots of space there’s gonna be a party. The gf helped carry an older lady out of the bar to her car who was wasted. If we didn’t need to head west, I feel like I should have gotten really drunk walking around all the squares with a bottle in my hand. Was a very drunk crowd but in a good way. It’s hard to explain. Was drunk Dancers not drunk talkers. The whole place just let loose. The percentage of Dancers who threw down completely was as high as I’ve ever seen it. It was Dso’s 1st show ever in Savannah and the people responded. Whoever was asking for a seedier area, this was easily the most shady I’ve ever been to a show in. They posted security across the street to watch a grass lot and the street where we parked. The gas station adjacent to the venue had burnt out cars that had been there for many years taking up a chunk of the lot. But...we hung out in this grass lot a few hours before the show in the most glorious weather ever. I was joking that the people slowly cruising by us inspecting us were like “this neighborhood is going to shit ;)”. Security kept an eye on us not for doing anything but to make sure we weren’t shot. We were thinking The stage on Bay was going to have boats behind it in a fancy area. It was actually abbreviated from the long name of the Stage in Bay Street projects. All that silliness being said, it was a blast for all involved. No one was hassled. Security helped wasted people to cars. You get a vibe of every city you visit and this town had that vibe of every night 1 person in a group will have to be carried out of the bars and no one thinks twice about this. I wish I could have gotten drunk walking around but alas I kicked it past Atlanta to motivate home. What a fun run. I’m filled with awesome vibes. My cup runneth over. See many of you at jubilee and a few of you sooner.

Great setlist, love the Grateful Dead recording of this show. Jerry says "looky here" just off mic before delivering the "don't lend your hand" lyric, tough to beat.

Son of a bitch that set list is off the charts. Would be hard to craft a list to hand to Jerry that would be any more satisfying than that. Palm Sunday trivia: It was played twice, on 3-18 and 3-19-78, both times on Palm Sunday. That's because the 3-18 encore started after midnight!

The sound in the Hall was ooey gooey sweet harmonies throughout , thick like molasses and the reward of the night the notes played with such love and patience a co-mingling so heavenly, it makes me think how satisfying, a hot biscuit slathered in butter and molasses as bites enlighten and fulfill satisfaction of the senses in the Holy City, not because of the sheer number of churches but how there isn’t antoher slice of heaven like Charleston, no other place to live on Earth. And I must say the neighborhood here makes you feel like you are in another world- stepping out of the hecticness of life. How Sweet it is to be back in Charleston where I spent my childhood. Feeling mighty high by Simple Twist seeing three people I love in this world dancing together unknown to one another on the front row . Catfish John was a delight in to Stars and sparkle they did on stage. I felt like we could hang out all day at the river, as the song strolled. I laughed inside thinking of my great grandmother forbidding my Aunt Inez to go down the road and play juice harp with her “Catfish John”. So this story so delighted my mother in law I have a juice harp in my vanity drawer. Gommorah’s message of loving the moment, not looking back, easy to live rolling down the track. Ride ride. And we bounced on into break. Let Me Roll It - wow. Like a wheel to you. Just great. I feel so happy to see it at my last show til Jubilee. The original show is on you tube and I rolled it for that song to hear it again. I’ll chose it for a good while. However I love Midnight Moonlight will stay in my head when that isn’t playing. I was floored by the beauty of Palm Sunday- the singing and the music so heavenly. CC Rider captured my attention as Lisa sings. It is like I never heard that song before, made new again. Tanya has that Bobby McGee down. That song was made for her to sing it! Koritz on drum kit. The Travis Bean so bright. I really like Jerry band with piano! Well chosen setlist. It fit the night. It is always a delight when it is a real show and just maybe you think, it was cobbled together because it fit the evening so right. Well that is a piece of my revelry. I’ll stop my ramblings now- I can’t sum it up like Gr8tfulpair is two sentences. 💕 Maybe I am just full of it i love this music so much !

Damn, church was good Tonite. We got the gospel good love tonight in Charleston. Thank you DSO for this JGB run that has been by far the most memorable run with good people I can remember. I feel like I need to be baptized in a river.
