  1. I’m going to take the hippy thing one step furthur. You might be a deadhead if.... when you take your clothes out of the dryer, the first piece you fold is your tyedye T-shirt. When, in conversation, someone mentions a city, your response is, the Dead played there. When, in conversation, your responses are lyrics to Grateful Dead songs.

  2. I love multi night runs but one thing I also love about DSO sometimes hits town other bands don’t. We do 3 night run in Denver, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York. You won’t get Penns or Indy or Fort Wayne or those dumps in Jersey. 3 nights DC means no Richmond no Norva. I love that DSO has taken me all over. Huntington, WV waterfront was cool. How bout Driggs, ID. Omaha was first place I laid eyes on my lady. One of the first nights we hung out was somewhere in Indiana on a venue change. Evansville maybe. I think 2muchfun from around those parts.

  4. They did the same thing a week later, 12/26/69, in Dallas. My favorite show. Supposedly, the drummer was late, Not on the acoustic set. I read somewhere about the honesty of ‘ someone is late so, let’s play acoustic’. Some say it was a stunt of sorts so that the could dabble in acoustic. I’m glad they did. I love acoustic Grateful Dead, 1970 and 1980. Jerry’s style really comes through on acoustic. Listen to Jerry’s solo on ‘to lay me down’ off of Reckoning. Such gentle picking.

  5. 69/12/19 Fillmore Auditorium, San Francisco, CA Acoustic: Monkey and the Engineer, Sadie, Long Black Limousine>All Around This World. Electric: Mason's Children>China>Rider, Black Pete, Hard to Handle, Cumberland, Casey Jones, Good Love> Cryptical>Drums>Other One>Cryptical> Uncle John's Band>Lovelight. acoustic is without Phil. China>Rider not on Relisten, but in DBX. Phil's tardiness prompts an acoustic set with Jerry and Bob. Believed to be first acoustic performance in band history. Jerry to crowd "When he gets here, we'll be able to play loud and all that. So me and Bobby Ace here are gonna regail ya with some old favorites. The Mason's Children was a monster and Pig killed the GL. Praise DSO.
