Random thoughts and randomness in general
Greg from Chestertown replied to Rude's topic in Random Thoughts
Caught Genesis in around ‘81? With tower of power horn section. I went with my buddy who was a drummer, into Jazz. He was freaking out! Lowell George died pretty much as soon as I got turned on to Little Feat. Time loves a Hero. -
When I was first shown the light, still in training, my roommate from college told me, forget St. Stephen, they’ll never play it. Those three performances slipped under my radar. Mind you, this was pre internet, cellphones. That knowledge stayed so far from me until I was recently educated here on forums. It’s still surreal for me.

Random thoughts and randomness in general

It sounds like you provided the explanation for why things are the way they are these days. It’s still not completely profitable yet. Not school night level yet. Looks like we’re still in transition, not out of Covid yet. …. If you go, no one may follow…. -

Skip on rhythm guitar, that’s cool. Thanks for taking the mystery out of that one for me. -

I heard they played some VFW in Jersey this past weekend, not sure which exit. Shared the stage with some other band. -
I’m partial to the Warfield/Radio City acoustic/electric run. I think they are refocused, reinventing themselves again after Keith and Donna’s departure. Brent is getting settled in. The future was looking bright. No one in the band is worn out , weary from the road, the drugs. They weren’t mainstream yet. Ahh, the good old days. I find it more precious than late eighties when everyone says they were at their best. That’s all, thanks for letting me share.

You must still pay attention to hate. Indifference is even better. -

Surprise!, the Sierra club which was objects to nuclear power, is supported largely by big oil. Before you get started, there’s an awful lot of nuclear submarines cruising around the world these days. A lot of progress has been made since three mile island. -
You need to check out not for kids only by Jerry. All kids tunes, I think.

Ha!, true. That’s the problem with this conversation. It’s cyclical, never ending and nothing gets accomplished. Politics as usual. …I can’t figure out, it’s the end or the beginning…. -

The recent political climate is quite mind blowing if you ask me. Trump is not a leader. Trump is not a politician. Trump is not a lawmaker. Trump is mentally ill. Trump needs attention to fill a void inside himself. He got into politics, ran for president to get attention. He behaved as president in a way that brought attention to himself. That is all that was accomplished. He has damn near half of the country swearing by him and he is just a broken individual that is just fucking around. …. I could not caution all, but I still might warn a few. Don’t lend your hand to raise no flag atop no ship of fools. -

Geez! We all need a show. Then, we could talk about that. Someone starts a thread saying Dark Star Orchestra, don’t get political, and three pages later….….… …..gotta get back where you belong. -
That song has a special place in my heart also. I won’t bother you with the story as it pales in comparison to your human level, but, yes, that song showed up in my life at a time that I needed it. Heaven sent at a time I was questioning how I was going to get through a situation. That one gets me to stop dancing and just take it in.

I don’t think that hippies, etc. we’re anti establishment as much as let’s start a new establishment because the old one wasn’t working. I was born on ‘61, had siblings ten years older. I do remember the death tolls from Viet Nam on the nightly news. Our leaders were getting shot. This darkness had to give. The Grateful Dead carried that feeling forward. A better existence through peace. Yea, they got ‘political’, you could say. Rainforest awareness, Rex foundation. I’ve had Bobby tell me to register and vote. I’ve had Phil tell me to donate my organs. Is that a bad thing? ‘Believe it if you need it, if you don’t just pass it on.’ I believe Dark Star Orchestra telling me to get vaccinated is about being able to go to shows with the new rules that others are putting in place. They love playing for us and they want to keep on playing for us. That’s why they say what they say. Nothing more, nothing less. -
