This night could not have turned out any better... the rain ended early and by the time DSO took the stage stars were coming out, smiles were plastered on most faces, herb smoke was everywhere, and all was well on earth. My partner and I had an easy time setting up a spot with our chairs, and the grass (not too muddy) sloped up pretty gradually, so the sight lines were quite good.

The band wasted no time and launched into a punchy and energetic "Cold Rain" that warmed the crowd and set a great tone for the evening. Cassidy was one of the highlights of the 1st set for me, as it found Rob Eaton and Jeff reaching higher and higher in the jams, very focused and clean, yet raunchy and fun. "Ship of Fools" was another treat, and featured a soaring solo by Jeff, and his vocals were spot on. Ms. Lisa Mackey also added beautiful harmonies to this song (well, to all songs, actually!), and I just love the band even more when she graces the stage. The set closing "Might as Well" was just intense, and again saw Jeff and Mr. Eaton playing off each other, whipping the audience up into a sing-along frenzy by the climax. By this time I was sure we were experiencing a re-creation of a 1976 show, but I could not narrow it down any further.

Set two was just one long tour de force. The opening "Let It Grow" was a true powerhouse from start to finish. The jamming was immensely danceable, and most of the folks around me were on their feet, spinning, shouting, raising fists in the air. I had a feeling this would go into a short "Drums", as 1976 shows often contained, and sure enough, this is what we got. No "Space", then back into the finale of "Let It Grow". The "Wharf Rat" was a huge highlight of the entire show for me, and saw Jeff showcasing his incredible talents as both an amazing guitarist, and great singer. It felt like he was bearing his soul during this number, and he took his time during the long jams. "Samson" was tight, and also fun to shake our bones to. The "Help>Slip>Franky" was just INCREDIBLE !!! A monster seeking to destroy Tuxedo Park and all who approach it. I especially dug the jamming in "Slipknot", and "Franklin's Tower" was simply perfect. "Sugar Mags" made the crowd even more happy, as did "U.S. Blues". The choice for filler (by popular vote) of "Cats" was a good one, with all band members sending us on our way in fine style.

I must also point out that the staff at Tuxedo Ridge was really helpful, polite, and most of them seemed to be enjoying the evening, too... not just doing their jobs. The place was very cool, and I hope the "Mighty High" is welcome there for many years to come.

Steve, as I said to you at the show, we all appreciate all your effort to get our music out there. I, for one, don't listen to a lot of what we do, but, The Other One from The Sherman was mind bending and I'm glad I was able to watch us wending our way through it. Great job and thank you!!!! Rob B

Kevin is such an animated guy. I see his face go from sinister to terrified to jovial to "I've been here before" over the course of a song. I noticed him a Rob Koritz were making faces at each other too. I think sometime in the second set I saw what looked like him eating his own bass pick (I think he put it in his mouth to temporarily play with his fingers). Anyone notice they brought him a mic in the second set which he never used?

He was off the wall, by the way.

Another cool note: During some of the solos Jeff would start to play a good melodic phrase and I would begin to smile, and then he'd begin to smile too. Was it my smile behind his face, or his smile behind mine? Sync.

Gotta love the Kevin Zone!! He's a great guy, whom I love to make faces at while he's on stage... He's been tearing it up on bass, and I can't image anyone else doing what he does...

KEVIN'S DA MAN!!

Thank you, Steve, for the work on the videos... they look GREAT !!! The light show by Bryan that night was also pretty amazing, and I remember thinking how trippy and intricate they were, This show was fantastic on so many levels, and we are lucky to have not only a clean audience recording available on archive.org, but also your videos that really help re-create the magic of that night.

I takes alot of time, green, and sacrifice to record those videos Ernst.....and we greatly appreciate your work. It's nice to go back and relive the shows. Now if you could somehow get a SDBD patch they will be even sweeter. And btw......I'm soooooo sorry I cracked your Aces. I promise I won't do it again. :D
