Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted May 14, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 14, 2012 This was a fantastic show, especially the 2nd set. Several band members were using new instruments and during the first set, it seemed to me they were still feeling the new tools out. However, by the 2nd set, the band was roaring to go and delivered a monster set. Just look at it on paper. It was even better than it looks and thats saying something. The venue had great dance space, minimal talkers, and overall great vibe. Might be the best overall show experience I've had this tour. Good music, good venue, and great crowd with dso stearing the ship always leads to a fantastic voyage. I would like to take that ride again. Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted May 15, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 15, 2012 I'm no longer in my last show was the best show phase. Thay describes my first 40 or 50 shows. At this pt, i have definite favorites. I don't even think this show was the best musically of tour. Just the best overall experience.

Forum MVP Supplicated Velvet Thunder Posted May 15, 2012 Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 15, 2012 Best show so far because I define such as when I can feel the band and crowd connect the most (being in the front aids in sensing this). The night before was a 'better' setlist and TN was my favorite show so far but this night, this sweet 76 dripping with color and spun out to maximum jammage still goes down as the best in my opinion. We had plenty of space to dance up front the entire night even though we left for set break (friends a block from the venue is pretty nice- miss you guys already!) Noah called the Promised Land that afternoon when we were all hanging out and I put all my energy towards it being so and when it happened we all just lost it up front and it started the night off really right. TLEO is unofficially one of our songs cause of its frequency and timing on west coast tour so we got really giddy and got really down for it. It was so good that when Jeff went to slam in the final notes a string popped right off his guitar so then ensued a nice little string change joke from Barraco about the string who did himself up as a bow to go into the bar and whatnot..... har har har, yuk yuk yuk Glittering el paso and whirling deal and a looks like rain that I selfishly used to apologize to a friend who I had been gruff to the night before by hugging him (this was by accident or divine plan or whatever you believe) right as the lines "hate's just the last thing they're thinking of" happened and I think it fixed everything and if it didn't me writing this hopefully will because there just ain't no time to hate (really sad I missed UJB and OMG missing CRAZY FINGERS might have made Mango cry on a weaker day and we both felt the loss of what sounded like it was one hell of a show in Huntington, but we decided to stay on this tour til the end so its ok we missed one!) I don't normally like Row Jimmy any more than any other song but something about this one just really took me this night and I suppose that means it was the best I've seen so far. It's all over now for that loser but there was no chance for anyone to lose so we danced it out while the band played our lonely hearts and you guys KNOW I JUST LOST IT for LL>Supp I mean I used it for my forums name for a freakin damn good reason and this, again at this show, just really had to be one of my faves I've ever seen I mean it was sooo dizzy and then bouncing and loopy and searing all at once I could barely contain my joy and I really internalized it because they struck each note so deeply into my very eager mind. Whoooooo ooooo! Classic but especially classy BEW that had us all spinning into the old days to carry the yolk and Mango got me by grabbing me instead of me grabbing him to come to me in the last verse and I nearly fell over myself in giggles that won't quite leave my face. I just remember every girl in that building looking like an angel as they twirled in their earth tones and tie dyes of every length and texture with all their guys hustling and bustling around em on child like feet with spry grins below adoring eyes and we were THERE. The music never stopped but we knew it would take a long pause cause no one could even breathe by the end of this song. Set break at our friends' and back in perfect timing. I was craving Might as Well so I got jazzed and went for it and fell into it because they didn't leave me a choice- that great north special was heading out from coast to coast and if only 99 get a chance to go I knew I had to take that ride again and again and again and again and holy smokes thank you!!!!! So glad I am here. RIGHT HERE. Samson rolled and roared from start to end as the songs before had and I def knew they had hit sublime frequency when I couldn't stop giggling at the story of the song while my body couldn't stop feeling and dancing every note that was increasingly becoming one blaring note to build the musical utopia we all dream of. Thank GOODNESS help was on the way because we really needed it and this band never lets us down so as we all got uncertain and got knotted into the line between mental breakdown and epiphany just to be turned into a smoking crater where our minds used to be and then found stumbling around drunk on that good ol' burgandy wine together by the docks of the city just to watch the day break along the swirling seas of that special DSO ocean to roll away the dew did MUCH more than just spin my little head around and around.... it took my head straight off and I can't quite find it yet. Please return if you do. I'll take a Melody is a very special selection because I am very partial to the way Mattson and Barraco play it together and this was another favorite yet. Magical music that laid us all back and took us home and a venue where the staff clapped and danced a little and we all had plenty of space to dance in the front in a large group is hard to top. But it'll happen, as it always does.
Forum MVP Mango Posted May 16, 2012 Author Forum MVP Report Share Posted May 16, 2012 One big ball of dancing bliss. Those poor bastards in Oneonta didn't know what was coming!! They took it well though:) I would go back to this venue again for sure. Good folks diggin the music, cool staff, and not too crowded at all. What fun!
