  1. Today
  2. I (or you Tom Banjo) Just need to find what the break even cost is - then I’d know if the juice is worth the squeeze. I’d likely lose my shirt in year 1
  3. Quit your current job. Ask to DSo to give you the rights to sell livestreams to their shows and plug into the soundboard. Provide the initial investment to share it with the masses and set your cost and see how it goes. I don’t see a reason why not.
  4. Yesterday
  5. An employee (late 20's - I didn't hire them) recently copied me on an email to a commercial client. I read the opening run-on sentence and immediately tried to recall the message, but no dice. Imagine a blog post with phonetical spelling and with more emoji's than punctuation. Should 'damage-control' be hyphenated or not?
  6. So 1k streams is $3-$5? That adds up. I’d write the song name as Frankie’s tower(Taylor’s version) to really cash in!! Or add (remix) to every song to get the DJ crowd. I’m making a band called Tailor Swift for the peeps who can’t spell which is 50% of high school kids these days. Have you seen how bad grammar is these days. In high school engkish if you had a run on sentence that’s an F. Meili had this group masters paper and one dude used not 1 period literally over a page and a half and he was in a masters program. wtf. I was baffled how you could get a college degree not understand basic grammar like using a period.
  7. According to Spotify: Spotify pays artists between $0.003 - $0.005 per stream on average. That works out as an approx revenue split of 70/30 - so that's 70% to the artist/rights holders and 30% to Spotify. I guess not much of a financial incentive for DSO to be on Spotify. I do miss the more frequent Nugs uploads (there are 8 shows from summer 2023) but something is better than nothing. I frankly would be more interested in more LiveStream availability and would be willing to pay for the privilege. I realize something like this has some behind the scene efforts, logistics, and front-end costs. I also realize another solution would be: "Dood - go see some live DSO shows for God's sake!" Point Taken. My lack of live attendance in the last few years is certainly not derived from a lack of desire.
  8. plays = money. I found a ton of old flash drives and I have like 40 Dso shows on them from 2005-2016 that I want to get to archive since they aren’t selling them. Really wish Rob E would start an upload project on old snows. I know there are plenty of tapers here who would be glad to help. The nice thing is they are already edited and tracked mostly. there was a time that I was listening to so much DSO that the dead shows all sounded so bad after listening to DSO boards. Now I just listen to the dead. Rob was also putting out lots of shows and I was seeing a lot live so was reliving the experience
  9. Scarlet> victim or the crime> fire on the mountain> truckin
  10. 8/16/91 - Replete with a 1st set Dark Star. Food for thought
  11. Last week
  12. 47 years and 2 days ago…5/4/77 Palladium NYC…historic for me as it was my first GD show.
  13. It's been too long (2020) since the last Victim or the Crime. BRING IT BACK (please)
  14. Yeah, they sound pristine. I'm not sure what changed but putting this on spotify and youtube is smart and will expose the band to wider audience
  15. Maybe someone has already posted this..: but…DSO Wiltern and Warfield are up on Spotify. I love this!!! They sound incredible
  16. 89/05/06 Frost Amphitheatre, Palo Alto, CA Jack Straw, Peggy-o, Walkin' Blues, They Love Each Other, Race Is On, West LA Fadeaway, Little Light, Queen Jane, China Cat>Rider. Let the Good Times Roll, Hey Pocky Way, Samson and Delilah, Ship of Fools, Playin' In the Band>Eyes of the World>D>S> Take You Home>The Wheel>I Need A Miracle> Wharf Rat>Round and Round>Not Fade Away. E: Black Muddy River. The calendar turn to 5/6 opens the door to memories of this fine afternoon on the campus of Stanford. A ten song first punctuated by one of five post coma Race Is On and the final first set closing China>Rider. Only Second set LTGTR, Samson on Saturday, a lovely Playin'>Eyes, Jerry's toe dipping into MIDI world on Take You Home, a 6/6 second set. An epic performance. It was 35 years ago today. Praise DSO.
  17. I can't tell you how much I'd give to get another Zevon show. When an artist of Lanois's passion and caliber schedule shows I hate to have time and distance keep me from being there. I first heard about his guitar playing first hand from my long time Emmylou fan out of Salisbury, NC when Daniel played guitar for her band on a little 6-7 show run through the Carolinas and Virginia fall 1995. Buddy Miller then became Spyboy 's guitarist starting with their first show of Spring tour 1996 at Bogarts in Cincy, March 20th opening with Love Hurts. But Ray wrote about seeing some of the 95 fall shows with Lanois and, being a guitarist himself, exclaimed how unusual his playing was, no picks and strumming on all parts of the neck with passion that was fiery. Any FF in SoCal should get into one or all of the three shows starting Tuesday. Hopefully Charlie Miller takes on the challenge. He taped their show at the Wiltern when he opened for her on peddle steel then joined her playing the Wrecking Ball album in 2014, 🤞🤞🤞
  18. Although it's a little disconcerting to look down at the trip odometer when showing 1000+ miles at 3am, with still another 500 to go, the time in the comfortable Hopkins Center for the Arts theater with the trio was drummer tight, bass thundering melodical groove while he crashed leads, harmonics, distortion and power with his golden Les Paul and soothed out some of best peddle steel slides with his quintessential emotions of love, sadness, family history and expressed humble gratitude to us and the world... This is also a three vocal harmony making it hard not to smile and feel peace. Opening surprisingly with Emmylou Harris's: Where Will I Be, then: I Love You, Moondog, Fire, That's The Way It Is, Under a Stormy Sky, then a song about growing up with his brother riding motorcycles across the US and Canada: Silver Riding With Silverado, Red I Love You and the Rest of the World, talked of his new love accepting his recent request for her to join in running away to the circus and getting lost: Slow Giving, sat down at peddle and was confounded there wasn't a bar , joking until his tech guy dug it out of a stage bag: JJ Leaves LA, then what he exclaimed his time in Jamaica and influenced by Bob Market was a brand new song from the bar gliding and grinding on the strings, back at the Les Paul for: Daughters and Sons>The Maker. Came back out for Stillwater, then said they had to travel and the grandparents in the audience should get back to their grandchildren. They've just added a third night to the already scheduled Tues, Wed and now Thurs in the Dreamland Theater Malibu California with a 100 audience cap on the space. That's going to be a catalog diving run and most likely new experimental music creating time. Check out the 3D virtual tour of the theater space with unusual couches, Easy Chairs and tiger statues ... wild
