  1. I went to visit a psychic. I knocked on the door. She asked "who is it?" So I left.
  2. Looking forward to three shows coming up in three months! Enjoying the field reports and setlists from the current west coast shows!
  3. Not much of a hiatus, but a notable 76, 77 and 78, coming back solidly in 79 with it's new pairing Alabama Getaway > GSET (think Riverbend 85 as a rendition), then Pittsburgh 89 tripping with GSET>Bertha Weird evolution of both songs as they changed radically. Lots to consider, esp the actual words of each song bleeding together for one message, one song. Both uniquely Grateful Dead and indicative of Jerry and Bobby alternating songs at a show.
  4. 8/22/72-2/20/95 21 1/2 year span Tells you how important it was to Jerry and Bobby and the band. They were at every one! Both songs evolving from the GSET second leg 72 jam out to the growling Bertha in 89. Can we get a dissertation from someone who has every version in their collection?
  5. Bertha>Greatest Story opener was happening back in 1972 and still in 1989 or maybe even later? I didn't realize it was in place as an opener as early as 1972 until listening to 9/10/1972 today. Incredible longevity⚡. Now I know and so do you
  6. (For the brave, conscientious and patient perusers of this medium) I believe this random question is in compliance with the forums directive of a fan site dedicated to Dark Star Orchestra and The Grateful Dead Experience: What was your first concert and what was the progression of concerts that followed that led you to trying to get to as many Grateful Dead and Dark Star Orchestra concerts as possible? David Cassidy at age 6 Led Zeppelin at 13 Grateful Dead @ 17 (Tom Snyder acoustic Jerry and Bobby) Tomorrow show 16) JGB and Frank Zappa 18 Dark Star Orchestra 34
  7. He made me question many times in my life why I was getting my haircut. "They left one by one as their work here was done, leaving gone home, leaving gone home. They've joined the heavenly fold. They're walking the streets of pure gold. They have gone home, yes they have gone home." BMB
  8. Hyryder at, hands down, the best venue in the Cincy area, RIVERFRONT LIVE. The Jack Straw had me reminiscing of 10/20/84. For one explosive lead run at the end of a drippy 70's version of Dancin' Charlie tap the peddle taking off the plump, plump, plump sound to rage a straight up down and dirty lead, tapping it back into the sound we know of with those plumpy notes that Dancin is famous for. I like a band that I got to pay attention to for these momentary streaks of lightning. I know, DSO has been introduced to the new venue in Newport, but this is a plea to consider the independent music venues. Don't let that November experience deter from coming back to Annie's, whoops I mean RL.
  9. Cryptical is a great way to start back up after a set break.
  10. Okay then it's agreed to move NYE back to Indianapolis with the huge FLAT, carpeted ballroom floor?
  11. On new years day it was announced 12/29, 12/30 and 12/31 Lakefront Arena and stated Tickets eventually for sale. It was a long two day drive from Cincy. I'm thinking this year of doing the three night Halloween run in Asheville after all those crszy Zeppelin tunes, war Pigs, nights in White Satin, his Halloween shows started getting crazy with his 2018 Seattle show where they were all dressed in feathers and every song had a bird in it ending with an incredible Freebird including the rousing guitar leads as the end. Most bands who cover freebird only do the piano and slide leading up to the ripping solos , not Billy he had his les Paul and captured most of what Skynyrds three guitarists shared. So nice to run into a familiar friend, Duck. New years 2018 was when I met you. That pageant show was well worth the six hour drive. Can't believe we got a St Stephen when the next show was obviously going to be a 60's early dead recreation. New Orleans was the first time I'd had a hangover in years. DSO did nye righteously opening with After midnight and spacing into a fantasy. If any one is coming in for the three Cincy shows in March Hotel AC still has a couple of vacancies 🛌💤
  12. I know Black Muddy River was played at Moonlight Gardens in Cincinnati around 2007-8 . We approached the ticket table and looked at the guest/comp ticket list and said we were a name that hadn't been checked off yet right as the show was starting. Worked! Sorry band members for scamming two $25 tickets, sometimes the thrill of a scheme adds to the excitement of the show. That's the one I recall. Others out there?
  13. Happy New Year! The year of the Hare longevity, calm, prosperity and peace predicted
  14. BMFS transitioned outta 22 sans countdown, starting MMATC 11:57pm and taking it 15 minutes into 23, maybe by the third number he took a breather to say Happy New Year. Did not want to stop playing even belting out a Little Maggie at the end of a sprawling 3 sets. Only real dead song was the long shelved Oh The Dreadful, second set , first night. Apparently he hasn't done any proper dead since playing with Weir. The Tangled up was more Dylan style although there were hints of it a Dark Star as it started transitioning. All Fall Down raged to close the first last night
  15. Was hoping to head south to Lexington tonight to get born cross eyed but I think the governor's state of emergency prevents travel unless necessary
  16. From Goodfellas "My wife says she wants to go on a trip to a place she's never been. I said how about the kitchen" name that scene, what part of the movie?
  17. Do the RV trailer passes sell on the first day?
  18. Selling grilled cheese and crystals is no longer a way to get to the next show🥴
  19. http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/asxcards/Phil2022-12-10WarrenHaynesChristmasJamAshevilleNC.html Up on Sugarmegs by z-man who does all the big shows, probably on archive where you can go to tracks. I'm going to give it a listen now.... FYI there currently are 5 bed vacancies at Hotel AC for the upcoming January 14th show at RL and 8 floor suites 🕉️ to help recovery from switching to the new year
  20. There's a lot of bad seats at the Ryman, especially under the balcony. Billy is big as big can get, until he raises the bar, just completing Europe so now all those fans are on board and his catalog is limitless since he added all that Zeppelin, Nights in White Satin and War Pigs to his covers, everything's hanging on this massive shelf he's created, just begging to drop, be lucky to catch an Oh The Dreadful , considering all of Europe didn't even get that
  21. I wonder how many recreations are shows the band members have attended and if that factors in the selection? Or far they are into the whole base?
  22. Knew it was one of 83 last St Stephen show with Wang dang opener, Hyryder played at Stanley's that night and some forum folks were heading there after the Taft, place was packed unlike last November Riverfront Live when the hearalded Cincy 85 was finally played, after waiting 22 years
  23. Emmylou Harris and The Red Dirt Boys exit/in Nashville, TN 8-9:39pm Here I Am Orphan Girl Guitar Town Making Believe Get Up John Gulf Coast Highway Ol five and dimers Green Pastures Two More Bottles of wine Ooh Last Vegas Luxury Liner Calling My Children Goodbye Pancho and Lefty All the road running ( my first) Wheels Ain't living long like this Together Again Tulsa Queen Born to run Rose of the Cimmeran (also a first for me) Save the last dance for me Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight. Oh my goodness, in a bar and the musicianship of her band is off the hook. She really enjoyed the night smiling through out and dancing with her silver cowboy boots
  24. Lisa ended the show on the 11th and started the show on the 12th!
