  1. The Great Society epitomizes that perfect moment when folk was evolving into acid. Check out their Somebody to Love and Sally Go Round the Roses. Hell, just get this album. šŸ˜ƒšŸ˜Ž
  2. White Rabbit the way God meant it to be played.
  3. And the best, most extended jam tease of The Eleven up to that time. The run up to the eventual triumphant breakout was a processā€¦
  4. I revived the original review thread for the show on the occasion its 10th anniversary. A lot of good folks (many of whom donā€™t come around here much anymore) posted to reminisce. It really was that inspiring a show. Lisapen on Lovelight was a performance for the ages. I will try to dig that up and also go through my CDs. They are in about the same disarray as Billyā€™s and TBs, I imagine.
  5. That show is still a, if not the, gold standard. It was an honor and a privilege to have been there. If we are known by the company we keep, I was blessed beyond measure that night. i canā€™t make any promises but let me see if I can dig something up.
  6. That second set is all that is good and right with the world.
  7. I doubt it is Desolation Row. Youā€™d probably remember that one.šŸ˜Ž
  8. Thatā€™s some nice Dylan there. And Low Spark out of Drums looks just exactly perfect.
  9. Let it Grow, Cosmic Charlie, and Mr Charlie were definite highlights. The vocal stylings of Miss Lisa Mackey were on full display. it was so good to see folks that I love and miss: 333 Mike, Michael, Ellen, Christophe and Josed, and of course the birthday boy Dr V himself. Thank you LA, the westernmost suburb of Vegas.
  10. I have no words. But perhaps I'll see you the next quiet place I furl my sails
  11. Greg, that was a good read, and nice of Anonymous to give a shout out in the comments to DSO. šŸ˜Ž
  12. That hill has sucked from day one. Morning, noon, and night it sucks. It sucks when it is hot and dry. It sucks when it is wet and chilly. It sucks when it is covered with morning dew (pun or literally). It sucks even more, if such a thing is possible, when people pitch tents on it and stakes and ropes make it an obstacle course. In my world it has sucked, sucks now, and will continue to suck. For cardio I dance. Or at least flail. But I fully respect your position and admire your generous spirit.
  13. Well said in every regard, Mango. I feel about that motherfucking hill at the Jubilee like you do about the balloons. But thatā€™s just my take, too.
  14. Low Spark>Visions is justā€¦wow ā¤ļø
  15. As sure as your sorrows are joys> And night comes so quiet, it's close on the heels of the day Just... wow!! ā¤ļøšŸ™šŸ˜ƒ
  16. Damn! šŸ˜„ That is the elective dream coming true!
  17. Bless you Doc, and hereā€™s to many more years for you dancing in a ring around the sun!
  18. This is unreal! Talk about rocking the house! Do yourself a favor and watch all the way through. ā€Whose barn, what barn, my barn!ā€
  19. I have a few thoughts on the subject myself.
  20. Rick, it takes a big man with to full heart to make such a statement that he knows the life he is living is no good. A lot of people have been very worried for you and not only is love real, concern is too. Many of us have, for whatever reason, an empty place inside us. The GD/DSO music and all that comes with it helps fill that hole. I think the trick is to keep the cup full but not constantly overflowing. And while the venue is interesting, a lot of of us donā€™t think too terribly fondly of Dewey... šŸ¤” it took courage to write what you did. I know it is more than just a ā€œlook at meā€ post. So no more platitudes, no more song allusions, just a nod to strength we know you have.
  21. My thoughts and prayers are and will be with you and your family. The saying may be unfortunately a cliche, but the love is real.
  22. God bless you and your family, Rick. i remember my conversations with her during our stays at the AC house. A great, insightful, and loving lady. Keep her always near to your heart.
  23. Monarchist, republican or ambivalent, those going to London will be there at an interesting time in recent British history. Safe travels, all.
  24. Where is the ā€œjā€™adoreā€ button? She was the only GD member I talked to during GD time (Cap Center 9/25/76). Several of us (this means you and me, Doc) talked to her at and in the bus ride after Scottā€™s memorial show at the Kinetic Playground, and then several more times over the years at Grateful Fest. Very gracious and very fun. An amazing lady of Southern gentility. She is a Thatcher and we determined that her people in Alabama undoubtedly knew my people in Tennessee as we were from adjacent counties separated only by a very porous state line. We are everywhere.
  25. I remember the shows with Stu after JKā€™s departure. Those were very good times. And there is lot of missing Herdy going around. Safe travels, you all!
