Eaton apparently dealing with a severe hay allergy, was with paramedics at set break who gave him dose of an antihistamine..hay was spread in front of stage to help with mud issue..hopefully feels better today and voice is good to go for tonight in Vienna..

2nd set should read

He should get some xclear from health food store. This spray that is xylitol based will kill any bacteria and rehydrate sinuses. Dehydration from antihistamine sets up one for infection like a bowling pin. Xylitol is used in dentistry and is awesome!!!!!!

I'll compromise with u on that. They teased good lovin then went to that jam which had Scarlett undertones. I just thought that good lovin was way too deep to not break it down a little. But I have to realisten as post show memories aren't the best.

I know but black mountain has much the same recipe. I will have to bring my own energy and I admit rain on first night did temper my energy some. The stars must align but I will try to come in with minimal expectations.

Richmond has huge dance energy from the 3 shows there I've attended. Black mountain was not nearly as rowdy IMO. It was pouring and the crowd was going crazy night 1. That was dedication. Besides the insanity of them making us walk back 2 miles with the busing it was an amazing weekend. The bus dropped us and this family with 3 little girls off 2 miles from our sites. They were cold and soaked and no one would give them a ride. They closed the short path as they said it was too dangerous so during the hardest downpour we had to hoof it as the buses refused to take us any further. It was so wet and dark we were lost and didn't recognize anything. Sunny was almost hypothermic when we got back. Mike arrived 2 hours later from a wrong turn. Thank you sunny for getting a cabin. You saved us!!!!

Black Mountain does have the recipe going on....and it's my birthday weekend, we're gonna have a good time. Excited to be back in the Asheville area for what is hopefully an annual vacation. Last year was really good....with Jim Allard on Bass. Skip this time, FULLY settled into the band and blowing minds. I just got some new dancing shoes too; you never know how grass and mud will be, don't always feel good barefoot. Coming up soon, woohoo!!!

Wow so I listened to this tonight and I could have sworn right after Reuben they teased good lovin. Weird how I was right good lovin was coming up but now listening again there was no hint of good lovin. Maybe I just had a psychic moment.

ah, this was such a great one! i gave up the front (actually, Aric convinced me, which I am grateful for..... the second set of night 1 they turned up the sound so much our ears were quite damaged.... thanks..... shoulda found those earplugs before the show, my bad)

instead we danced with the family in the back of the seating area and I gotta say, this was one of the best family dance parties I've attended in a LONG time.  missed you, Mango! seeing some of my favorite people and quite unexpetedly was a real treat. meeting some of you forums cats that I had not yet had the pleasure was mighty swell.  this was a special show! (sorry that Eaton had his allergy issues and EVEN MORE SORRY that JEFF DID NOT give me the setlist like he has for EVERY elective show I have attended since he joined- notice whoever DID get it did NOT post the changes so we will never know what bobby songs they were GONNA play - I still feel a little jipped, here.... how could he not see the UNICORN up there! I was even the first to ask but some universal unalignment made him only hear the other one that asked AFTER me and only see THAT guy.... grrrr! oh well, I am learning to LET GO, so here is me, LETING GO!)

harder they come made me happy it was gonna be a jgb-full night, guess i didn't quite realize how much so.  really happy. it was really nice of the rain not to pour down the whole night, instead it was just perfect dancing weather with nice cool breezes.  they got to wang dang and I was all giggles.  I could feel the epicness of the show sinking in. so wonderful.  iko was ridiculous after wang dang - silly word songs with silly joy bubbling all over every person there.  i feel bad for the handful of ppl that left in fear of the rain that morning... if only they'd known! skip killed the tom thumb as usual, and here i would like to THANK SKIP AGAIN for joining my favorite band, he really adds to the magic in so many special ways! the jack a roe was one of those cool and kinda different versions all swift and swarthy.  felt so excellent in the bones. keep on growing had Aric saying "this isn't a dead song" and me laughing at the best cover band playing songs played by the best cover band and the fractal magic that we are all keeping alive together. specialness at its specialist.  mmmm.

they took us down along the lazy river road and I asked Aric if it was his first time and he said yes so I said "pay attention!" cause this is such a special tune and I wanted him to really HEAR and FEEL it.  i love having a guy that only knows so much about the dead, it makes story time fun and I get to see the same reactions in him that I had as I allowed DSO to be my Dead-101 instructor, teaching me the mythos song by song, show by show.  divine. jeff nails this song. then it was a deal and we had to let it go down even though we just wanted to let it come 'round and by the end of first set I was happy in ways I can't put into words about being at this phenomenal mini-fest campout delight of a damp weekend.

scarlet>cherise>scarlet!!! (how can you call it rueben when sandwiched into scarlet!?!) whoa, now, DSO, this is ridiculous!!!!  haven't danced this hard in a long while, at least since last tour, and damn, it felt so nice! such a perfect way to celebrate these moments with a perfect family.  had my scarlet shawl on cause it was chilly during set break and I let it last which was a nice acessory for dancing such deeply heart bloodied songs.  sigh. lisa's cooing during scarlet set the hairs all over my body on end and I felt the deep and mystical prayers of all the divine mothers and daughters descending on us all.  blessings. so grateful for that angelic sound she is so willing to share with us all.

ok, Rob B, having your good lovin was def a strong highlight of the weekend. though you always take it too far, it's always just far enough and DAMN that was just a great rap! so glad Aric got to hear one since I have a tendancy to go on and on and on and on about your raps.  tasty indeed.  the band knows just how to pull thorugh these moments and let that old school magic shine.

wheel attics!!! really!?!! so special.  a friend that we all know came up to me and said during attics "the dead never played it this good" and I knew she was speaking from the heart of experience and I knew she was right.  thanks, DSO, for doing it so right for all of us this time around.  that's what love will make you do ;) we swooned and fell into pieces and it was heavenly. you KNOW our love will NOT fade away! not ever!

and it stoned me stole my face for sure, our prayers for it to not rain all day had been answered and the band stoned us jsut like going home, as this IS home.  so beautifully played and so appropriate! we ran up front so i could get setlist from Jeff at the end (what a fail!) and saw that the hay had been turned to deep muddy waters just like the night before.  funny.

hard to handle.... I LOVE it when they play this song.  we danced so damn hard.  just what we all needed. danced so hard I could have SWORN that after the strange man stopped by and blessed our souls there was ONE MORE UPBEAT song before ripple and you all laughed at me and said there wasn't..... but hey, that's what I live for, is thinking there were songs played that weren't cause i had such a good time.

the strange man was just what I wanted to hear, another I had just introduced Aric to and was really happy to get.  just made my weekend.  Lisa is so divine.

ripple to send us home, and ripples in still water that know how to take me home, all they way back to boulder.

i look forward to some N cali shows this fall and I am eager to see you left coasters that weren't out on the right one. mostly, though, I am just happy that I got this weekend and it was one full of family and reunion and rejoicing.  not every show I see all those faces in one venue, and it felt like the jubilee that I missed and the black mountain shows I will miss.  october, here I come!

kiss kiss! thank you again, ALL OF YOU!

The rain made the cabin such a clutch move.  Despite the rain, great fun was had.  The 2nd night when the rain held off, we had an absolute epic dance party.  What a tremendous time with tremendous people and a tremendous band.  See many familiar faces soon.
