Forum MVP Rude Posted December 29, 2021 Forum MVP Report Posted December 29, 2021 The greatest NFL coach and broadcaster in history just passed. He had a short coaching career but in 10 seasons never had a losing record and won 3/4 of his games and 1 super bowl. He took his Madden Cruiser across country because of his fear of flying. It was always a delight to watch him call a game and use his telestrator. A legend has passed.
Forum MVP bs69 Posted December 29, 2021 Forum MVP Report Posted December 29, 2021 It could be argued that he did more to increase the popularity of the NFL than anyone. Madden on a Thanksgiving day broadcast was must see TV. RIP coach Madden
Forum MVP gr8fulpair Posted December 29, 2021 Forum MVP Report Posted December 29, 2021 I loved how Brett Favre said “he narrated my career”. So true, Madden had some mad love for Favre! Madden and Michaels were a hard team to beat in the booth. I think when they broke up is when they tried a 4 man Mon nite booth with Dennis Miller. Epic fail, lol!
Forum MVP Greg from Chestertown Posted December 29, 2021 Forum MVP Report Posted December 29, 2021 A raiders fan since the first moment I saw them passing the ball down the field instead of the one guy giving the ball to the other guy and he just runs into the pile of guys in front of him, about 55 years ago. They knew how to play the game. Thank God for memories, it enables me to still be a Raiders fan. Reading about John Madden’s passing brought a tear to my eye and a lump in my throat. Madden era Raiders had the highest winning percentage of ALL professional sports teams.
Forum MVP Tea Posted December 29, 2021 Forum MVP Report Posted December 29, 2021 RIP - Madden WAS football and loved Beer BOOM!
Forum MVP 2muchfun Posted January 1, 2022 Forum MVP Report Posted January 1, 2022 Best football broadcaster ever.
Forum MVP Rude Posted January 3, 2022 Author Forum MVP Report Posted January 3, 2022 To put his career coaching record in perspective, he averaged better than a 12-4 record every season he coached. That’s just nutty.
Forum MVP acududeman Posted January 3, 2022 Forum MVP Report Posted January 3, 2022 I met him briefly in 1982. Hi son went to my high school. I was sitting in a chair next to him and the main thing I remember was that his hands were like friggin mitts. His Super Bowl ring was gigantic and his pinky finger was the size of my thumb.
