I’m just bitching about the price hike. It’s still worth it for what you get but it used to be the best bargain there was. What was 1st year? Like $99 then $119 and $139 then VIP was created but don’t think many did it early on. There was no vip 1st year and even 2nd year I don’t think. We were GA for a while even after VIP came about and one year we borrowed a buddy’s wristband to take a shower but t showers didn’t exist 1st couple years at all. Eventually the pack in and out was for the birds and cat camping in the venue was the way. My mom asked if she could get us jubilee tix for Christmas. We were like hell yeah. Nice $850 present. If it hits 4 figures ever we are going GA and ultralight. If I had to actually pay the bill I’d prob go GA this year but I’m camping all 3 days. Screw going into society. Transition from freedom to not freedom and back. Pass. 3 day escape with the only rule being treat others kindly is why I’ll never hotel it off grounds. Soon they will offer glamping like they do at other fests. Watch. oh shit the ghost of jubilees past shows up. We’ve migrated to hotels ever since the KOA made you do multiple nights on Memorial Day weekend. And it’s easier to have no packing up.

I’ve seen Dso do a bunch of golden road fillers in my day. It’s a fun little send off. My preference to end any show is a ripple or Brokedown closer to put your arm around your love ones and sway as you reflect on the great night you just had. At my peak dance shape, I’d be craving something reallu fast to leave it all there even though at my peak I couldn’t wear out and now I huff and puff to keep up. Fucking pandemic. It was great for the peeps who got free Ferraris scamming the system and for Hyryder who gained fans and doubled their ticket price as the only game east of the Mississippi, but it caused many to get drunker, fatter and lazier and obviously made us more fertile popping out babies. Luckily it was before the vaccines that made you sterile and implanted the Gates device from your bloodstream to your brain and with a click of a switch at the Gates foundation, millions can be turned off and die simultaneously. congrats to Michigan. The big 10 needed that after the ultra poor showing so far vs the SEC. Tennessee dominated so badly they almost blew my under bet. If you didn’t know, betting the under in Iowa games was a winner all year and even the 2 lowest o/u lines in the last 20 years went under. Death taxes and Iowa on the under. Rare to see under 27.5 hit and that was the lowest line in a few decades vs one of the multitude of big 10 west scrubs. I think BS69 and I were lamenting our gambling habits b/c we were watching like the Iowa northwestern game that no football lover should ever watch and we really didn’t even have to b/c it wasn’t even close to going over. If you are an aspiring punter, you get to see in essence a seasons worth of punts in a single game. When you set punting records, the OC loses his job and will never get another OC job again. Dude may be a QB coach or WR assistant but I can guarantee he’s never ever ever getting a head coaching or offensive coordinator job in D1 ever again. Power 5 experience. Check. Division champs check. Have to score 24+ a game to keep your job written into his contract. Nope. 16 a game.

you guys are playing better without burrow. You always question how good a QB is when the backup comes in and dominates. Eagles won the SB with a backup for Wentz showing that Wentz is actually a bad QB. Your backup is lighting things up with all those weapons in Cincy. We will see how burrow plays returning from large injury number 3 next year. Some QBs bodies are just weak like Romo. He couldn’t handle 300 pound guys smashing his shoulder into the turf without his collarbone breaking.

Everyone but 49ers are limping into the playoffs in the NFC. 3 straight losses for the Eagles makes me smile. It’s been since Oct 22 that the eagles have won by more than a TD. That early season luck in close games isn’t holding. Need Tommy 2 Times to come through for the Giants. He’s getting that nickname after he beats the eagles 2x in the next 3 games. Get those Italian hands ready.

I’d be more shocked in New York if at least 1/4 of the crowd didn’t leave during drums space. In the Midwest no one leaves early besides Chicago but that’s pretty much the norm in big cities. It gives the real fans more room to dance. Sorry you thought you were getting a greatest hits show where they play the most played dead songs every night. It’s why you go to more than 1 show. They don’t do repeats on 3 day runs and you have a near 50% shot of hearing the songs you want to hear. I’d suggest messaging the band to request a set list next time. Someone must have requested all those songs to make it in the setlist. Maybe they beat you to the request line. I enjoy hearing pride of cucamonga. I just want the band to play Willin’. I’m gonna send that into the request line next time I’m seeing them. The dead played that none but I’m sure most would enjoy it. swiftheads are exactly like deadheads. Plus she banged John Mayer who’s Jerry Garcia reincarnate. Pretty sure saw her wearing one of those $800 designer dead hoodies which means she’s a real deadhead. I wear generally nothing dead related to shoes b/c I’m a poser like Tea who’s trend I followed. Dress like you don’t belong there. I think meili wore this all white prom dress to a show and it was freaking drenched by the end.

if I was solo, I’d have my backpacking tent with my gear in my backpack and go minimalistic. I do like having my car right next to me though. It’s a great safe for valuables plus if it pours you just hop in with a group of peeps and jam some tunes or warm up or get some quick AC during set break. Last year we were absurd. Rented a Yukon Denali b/c we had so much gear for the 2 of us it wouldn’t fit in our vehicles. It’s gotten ridiculous. We had bins of shit we never opened. It was how you’d pack for a zombie apocalypse minus the weapons and welding equipment.

the VIP costs rose dramatically. They will test the limits of supply and demand. Will be interesting to see if price impacts attendance. Of course DSO doesn’t set the ticket price and the promoter wants to max his profits, but there’s a price point to max and this may go above that and reduce demand too much. If nothing else, next years can’t go higher or casual fans will say no thanks and casual fans buy most of the tickets at shows.

thAt was a seriously poor performance by the eagles. Our rank last in the NFL RT strikes again and allowed the strip sack TD for the only score. Dak wasn’t as sharp as he’d been lately but it was plenty to beat the hapless eagles. Something was wrong with Philly. They didn’t come to play. Heads down early in game. Maybe Hurts was injured. I like beat downs and got another plus hit the straight bet and 2 Cowboys parlays. The only one I lost was 3+ TDs passing and getting tackled at the 1ft line on a nice pass killed that dream but can’t be greedy. Plopped a whole $100 bonus bet on Dallas -3. Giddy up.

You see it in college basketball seeding. If you lose your star, you get seeded lower. I just feel bad for Michigan having to play Bama game 1. There’s no one I’d want to see my team play less than a Saban team with a month to prepare. Rick you may be unhappy about that but you should be upset that Georgia didn’t get in. They had a perfect regular season. Unfortunately they don’t have a scrub to play like Iowa or Oklahoma state or a decent but not elite Louisville. Bama played a hard schedule. Unlike Michigan and Ohio state they scheduled a legit non conference team. The lesson Michigan would have taught peeps is play only 2 top 30 teams all year and if lucky and win both you are in. That was one of the worst schedules you will see. Bana finished 5-1 vs top 17 FPI and 6-1 vs top 30 FPI teams. Ohio state was 2-1 vs top 30 FPI and all 3 were top 10 rated. I took Washington money line +280. I chickened out and cashed out knowing Oregon got the ball to start the 2nd and were gonna score to end the 1st and was happy getting paid at +150 even though much less happy with the final result. this year would be so freaking awesome for a 12 team playoff. Florida state will be in with a win but they are only 2pt favs over Louisville and we deserve better in a playoff. Several teams that would be favorites over Washington and Florida state will be left out and if Bama wins they won’t get in even though they would finish 5-1 vs top 17 FPI teams. Michigan will finish the season being 2-0 vs FPI top 30 teams. They are good but played only 2 teams all year that were decent. They are rewarded for not scheduling a Texas or notre dame or Florida state like LSU and Florida. The 2nd best record in the NFL is 9-3. If you play enough good teams you will lose. This year Ohio state, Oregon and Bams won’t be in. Bama’s BCS rank was set where no matter what they aren’t in. Texas is -16 today. If they lose and Bama wins and Florida state loses they may but it’s a long shot for a 12-1 team who played more top 20 teams than anyone. They got penalized for playing Texas. Michigan avoided any risk and was rewarded. Boo. This is really the 1st year that there wasn’t a really clear picture of at least the best 3 teams. We had a Michigan state at 4 who was garbage. Had a Cincinnati at 4 who wasn’t really a 4. But the top 3 or last year the top 4 were the true best 4. This year not necessarily. Oregon and Ohio state and Bama would all be -7 or more vs Florida state. thank god this is the last year of 4 teams only. Next year gotta win 3 or 4 games to win it all. Me likes

it’s good they have 6 months prep to work up 4 shows worth of graphics. We watched a YouTube of the whole U2 show and on TV we were like this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. id love 1st row center balcony. I think your whole peripheral vision is visuals there. We saw some back row vid that was still super cool but you could see where the screen ended but I’d want to be closer being engulfed in wonder.

so last night at my parents for dinner my dad asked me about helping him get eagles and steely Dan tix for St Louis. I’m like that sounds like a cool show. Well upper level were $300 with fees and lower level that wasn’t platinum were $400 min. They are retired and see a show or so a year so they didn’t flinch but seeing 300 a ticket upper level made me flinch. $600-$1500 face for floors. Insanity.

It was the 45th anniversary of this show originally played a block away from the Riviera. Unfortunately someone told me that 45yrs ago the dead played uptown right over there so I knew it had to be the show. I knew no songs to be played but taking away the deduction I enjoy was a bit of a let down. When I saw Jeff’s white TB-500 on the stage that made it a lock. As always DSO rocked it. It’s almost hard to review shows for me now just like it is to pick a favorite song. We had drinks post show at the uptown pub and they had dead playing. An employee comes over and asks us what song we want to hear. I’m like this show playing is fine. She’s like but what song is your favorite that you really want to hear now. I said I don’t really have a fav dead song or one I need to hear. This show you have playing is perfect. I think she was sorta confused by that. I have 80 fav songs and each one can get me going. If she said which song don’t you want to hear this second, I could maybe give an opinion. I think non deadheads have a tough time wrapping their heads around the fact that we can just play a show and accept what songs come next vs having a greatest hit that everyone needs to hear. At van morrison at the end he said I guess we have to play brown eyed girl. He wasn’t thrilled to be forced into that and everyone got up to dance/sing but he wanted to avoid a riot….

The place was packed on a Friday night. Gotta think DSO could pull off 2 shows here. St. Louis is a direct southwest flight from most cities. It’s also a great dead town and the crowd is always good besides the peeps trying to get me to sit so they could see. Sorry bro I’m gonna dance all show. 1st time at Dso I’ve been asked to sit. Many times I’ve been asked to sit at non dead shows but they get the same reply. And once I’m asked to sit, I have no choice but to dance. Bring on security or whatever, I ain’t sitting now. I personally love Dso doing late 80s and 90s more than any other era. Maybe I like the darker dead jams or the shredded distortion. It’s my fav. It’s like if the dead was ar their peak in 1991 when Dso plays it. When I see the setup that’s Brent or later i get all giddy. Fantastic show. Any show that starts help slip Frank is ok in my book.

He’s like dead on 80’s Jerry. He has that whimsical twangy Jerry down. That seems like a horrible explanation but like Jerry’s playing on Althea. It’s sort of a whimsical style and Zach has that perfected. I haven’t seen him since before dso in Colorado prob 6-8yrs ago with Melvin but my thoughts at the time were that he was dead on the sound of 80’s Jerry.

They sound like a jazzfest funk band that has a DJ sampling as well. Interesting groove but I’m very partial to jazz funk and the New Orleans sound. Wish I could take up residency every year for 2 weeks starting the last week of April.
