  1. That’s so funny. I was thinking the same thing while driving to the beach today. Now that we’re expecting one drummer, they'll somehow change It up to two drummers. One step done and another begun....
  2. Judging by the previous posts, it was a perfect night. Everyone had their minds blown. ‘What’d they play?’. ‘ I don’t know but it was great’. That’s the best. Perfect.
  3. Damn. Asleep at the wheel. St. Michael’s is only about an hour away from me.
  4. I believe it’s ok. I know that the band encourages it. Soundboard is in the back of the room, straight out from the band. Pretty much railed off from the crowd which will be full of people taking up all the spots on the rail there. Personal message Hardpan, he’ll know more than me about taping.
  5. The cops are strict. Be good or be good at it. The place has four walls but no roof over half of it. That makes it kinda neat for summer beach show. Uneven floor, gotta seek out a good spot to dance or you will appear drunk. The band loves the place. I think they may even be the reason that there’s no roof on half of the place. Skip bombed it off years ago. Pretty sure. Small stage so one drummer show and one night elective is the usual routine but don’t trust DSO. They keep us on our toes, mixing things up constantly.
  6. Glad it turned out to be 12/16. I was diggin’ that set list a little more because of Stagger Lee and from the heart of me.
  7. Could there be more sugar mags/sunshine daydream splits? What about around the time of Bill Graham’s death. Didn’t they finish it like a week later? Does that count? I at least used to have a tape with it split up, heard it a million times. Closing of Winterland? Some late eighties New Years Eve? Fuck, I don’t know.
  8. I lived in a small neighborhood, twelve houses. Ours was the last one before the cul-de-sac. My neighbors front yard was a hill right at the edge of the street. We would lay two sheets of plywood my dad had on their front yard at the edge of the street. That was our ramp. We were stoked (remember that word?) if we would ride up and kick turn with only one wheel still on the ramp. I grew up in Wilmington, De. My mom would drive me to the foot of the Delaware Memorial Bridge, drop me off so that I could skate the drainage ditches, thcn come back and pick me up before dinner. Try getting away with that one these days, you’d get locked up for sure.
  9. Nice! I’m talking old school, though. I used to have a subscription to skateboarder magazine. When I got my latest issue in the mail, I ‘d go out front and teach myself what they were doing in California. One issue had a series of photos of a kid doing a kick flip off a curb. That’s when I gave up. I can’t even begin to wrap my head around what kids do on boards anymore. Ollie? WTF? How did you get the board to follow you when you jumped in the air? Double twist when you hit the air...(nice recovery from thread drift, huh?)
  10. Yea, I used to be pretty good on a skateboard, old school style, even doing handstands. A few months ago, my son came to visit with a couple of his friends. He dug out my board and everyone was taking a turn. Well, I tried a handstand for the first time in many, many years. My ears are still ringing from the laughter that I generated with that feeble attempt.
  11. I’ve been so happy and excited at a show before that I have contemplated a cartwheel but my better angels have held me back, might pull a hammie. Still considering a somersault but it better be soon, not getting any younger.
  12. I saw that PBS bluegrass underground show also. You’re right, psychedelic bluegrass. Enjoy the show!
  13. HaHa! That was a slow fast ball right down the middle. Thanks for knocking it out of the park.
  14. I saw Billy Strings on public television Sunday morning, playing a show in some cave somewhere. Thoroughly impressed. I thought the venue would be a cool place for DSO to play.
  15. We have peeper frogs around here. They get loud at sunset. It’s not a real enjoyable sound. I feel for ya. I’m a big fan of sunshine. Last year was so bad that I actually got used to not wearing sunglasses at all on some days. That’s saying a lot, I wear sunglasses on cloudy days. I DON’T wear them at night, though.
  16. We had those conditions here on Delmarva for the last two years or so it seemed. Ain’t no sunshine.... this year we’re getting good rain, everything is lush but it’s only raining at night and on Sundays. The perfect year for people who work outdoors. I haven’t lost any billable hours to rain. Ok, that’s a lie. Just a little bit.
  17. Did you hear the one about the Irish girl who was always hanging out on the front porch? Patty O’ Furniture?
  18. Played once by the Grateful Dead, 12/07/68 Bellarmine College, Louisville, ky. Listed on set list as unknown. According to what I just read. Interesting original set list. The band has been pulling off some great shows lately, based on set lists. I wasn’t there. They’re drawing me in, though.
  19. Right!? Nice of them to give the dancers a break between China/rider and scarlet/fire. Probably necessary
  20. Yea, I was was just thinking the same thing. Awesome start, awesome filler, awesome!
  21. ... I’m a little bit older now and I know my stuff...
  22. Original show was played on my birthday. I’ve always wanted to catch a Dark Star show that was originally played on my birthday. Looks like I missed my chance. The odds of that happening again are slim to none and slim just left town. Set list looks like a fun night.
  23. He was better at that than being funny. He told the truth.
  24. I have a Grateful Dead sticker on my riding lawn mower. I wonder if that’s why my grass looks so good. Gotta be. Right!?
