  1. Rude - I don't mean to be critical and I am sorry if perceived that way. I just want to offer an opinion which came about as a thought from your post which I quoted above. I value and enjoy this forum and want to mention something that could become a potential issue for the forum in the future. Rude - you mention that you were forced to leave Facebook due to the exposed hypocrisy of others. Based on the context of your post above, I am assuming you are referring to hypocrisy in the political arena. In my experiences, Deadheads come in all political shapes and sizes. It is a strong possibility that there are many here who disagree with your political leanings and may even be staunch supporters of our current administration. You have made many political statements in recent months, and I must admit that I am always curious if there will be rebuttals to follow. Fortunately, there have not been many. The reason I say fortunately is because my fear is that too much political discourse would ensue. Soon enough, people would be tuning out of this site for exactly the same reason you have chosen to leave Facebook. In my opinion, it is best to leave politics out of the DSO Forum...no matter how self-assured one is that he/she is on the correct side of the discussion. For the record. Just in case you are wondering what my motivation may be in the above statement, I agree with many of your political statements and disagree with others. I would certainly enjoy talking politics and societal issues with someone like you. I like talking politics with intelligent, well-informed individuals. You are certainly that. I am a down the middle Independent with some left and Socialist leanings, as well as some right and Libertarian leanings. However, in these crazy times, any safe-haven where politics are off-limits is a welcome reprieve. I have always viewed this music and the community surrounding it as the world's greatest safe haven. We unite and find value and love for each other through our shared love of this music ...which helps us to accept, respect, and welcome our differences in the world at large. Rude - I take no issue with your political opinions. I just think about your Facebook statement and by extension the possible same thing occurring to the DSO Forum. I am quite confident that there are a multitude of political opinions amongst this group. If everyone posted political commentary with regularity....this site could very quickly erode into something completely unrecognizable and not all that pleasant. Perhaps I am looking at this the wrong way. I recognize that I am a bit of an outsider here. I like using this platform as an on-line community to discuss matters of Grateful Dead and DSO. I love that it's here and I enjoy reading other people's thoughts on my favorite music. That being said, I am aware that that this site also exists as a means of communication for a group of tour friends and therefore my thoughts above may not exactly apply. Perhaps political commentary on this site should just be viewed as banter amongst friends. Either way.....at least we all know we can agree on black licorice.

  2. There used to be a Politics folder (or whatever is the correct terminology) in earlier iterations in the Forums. I'm not recommending that it be brought back, but it was a convenient place to keep political discourse. Of late I have wondered what discussions about, say, agitation for regime change has to do with the greatest transition from Scarlet into Fire to be found in the Archive. I admit that I am not up on the latest disputations about Marxist praxis and theory, or the critical exegesis of “A well regulated Militia" in the Second Amendment. I just like to dance, although admittedly I'm not very good at that either.

  4. I barely tolerated the turd previously, but only the very ill informed or ones whod follow him even if he shot someone on 5th Avenue would think he handled this pandemic well. He’s the head of the anti maskers ffs. People have been shot and attacked for refusing to wear masks and called it a liberal conspiracy. Promoting Qanon and already calling the election fraudulent is destroying the fabric of the country. And yes his refusal to take the pandemic seriously is why we are still fully in it as other countries are recovering. The steady stream of lies, dog whistles and threats of civil war if he doesn’t win is just too much. I hate narcissistic people as it is and this turd is the worst of the worst, but if you don’t understand economics and believe all manufacturing will return to America and immigration is bad then hes your guy. There’s good white supremacists too right. His fear mongering has already led to violence. Worried about the future with new congressmen who will win who back QAnon who’s main philosophy is that Hillary anc other Dems sell children as sex slaves. These are the dumbest our country has to offer that follow Q. 5g gives you Covid. Sorry but I won’t stay silent anymore! I won’t be complicit. I understand many are afraid to speak up. It’s ok. But I will speak up.

  5. St. Stephen 🙃 Although I did get one of the 83 shows in Cincinnati a couple of years back created by Dark Star Orchestra and an elective one at Frontier field and also a 1976 recreation in Colorado. But, alas none from The Grateful Dead darn it. I tried and tried to be there as much as possible just in case it came down.

  6. It’s tough to say. The states that didn’t issue the orders were all very slow to catch and now continue to escalate in case load. In CT at the beginning, it was quite scary, and we were glad to comply with the recommendations. My wife is the night nursing manager at the hospital here, and it was 100% full of Covid patients at the peak, besides one unit. She started wearing scrubs to work “in case I have to help out”. Fortunately, she didn’t, and things started to get under control. Raging unchecked, it would have been complete pandemonium at the hospitals and a lot more people would have died. Stressful times here at the house in April and May.

  7. Last evening Basement Dance Party 2 surprisingly exceeded expectations, burning many calories in the process. A full serving of treats set the mindstage for the genius of the Big Man, he delivered in spades. Set Two 81/05/16 Cornell Shakedown>Bertha, Lost Sailor>Saint>D> Set Two 85/06/24 RiverBend S>Comes a Time>Other One>Cryptical>Wharf Rat> Round and Round, Good Lovin'. E: US Blues.
