  2. Don't forget another Frozen Logger teaser (1st verse) done during Tuning waiting for Rob B. mic to turn on. One hundred thousand tons of Pigpen dropped on to the parking lot of Holiday Valley to go along with a couple tons of rain. Place was a slop fest. In hind sight VIP would have Definitely been the way to go. Tent for the rain and bathrooms that weren't surrounded by 25 yards of quick sand mud. The band delivered 4 sure. 1st set Dew was upbeat and mind blowing. Rob B. and Lisa belted out the pigpen tunes with extra salty Blues. Lisa shined on the harmonica too. Lovelight in the 1st set was a surprise too but due to the format fit in perfectly. Rob B. had some awesome "Wait a Minute!" moments. The Dark Star-->--> end of the show was an extraordinarily out of this world magnificently wonderful spectacular medley. Venue might have to work on some logistics if they have another festival. Looked like they shuttled people in from a mile or so away. A lot of people decided to walk which made the main road packed with people walking like they were going to mecca. Luckily I arrived at the butt crack of dawn to ski the mountain so I got parking right in the lot near the festival which was a lifesaver going back to the car between bands and thunderstorms. Awesome town Ellicotville is. And this guy from PA was dumbfounded to know cannabis is legal in NY and there are dispensaries on every corner. I 🖤NY.

  3. We're heading to Europe! 🌍 Join us for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of 'Europe '72' with nine European performances in England, France, Germany and Italy September 13 - 25, 2022. Every show will be a recreation of a historic Europe ‘72 tour performance; as we'll be performing in four of the exact cities from Europe ‘72, notably in Paris, France - at The Olympia - the very same venue the Grateful Dead performed on May 3, 1972. Before we head to Europe, we'll bring a few Europe ‘72 recreations to life in the States - 50 years to the day! We'll recreate the Dead’s 4/8/72 show from Wembley Empire Pool London, England at the Skull & Roses Festival on April 8 in Ventura, CA. Additionally, we will take the Europe ‘50 Years Later’ recreation to The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on May 13, offering up the Dead’s performance from Lille, France from 5/13/72. Adding to these two stateside performances is the presence and participation of Jerry Garcia’s ‘Alligator’ guitar; a 1955 Fender Stratocaster originally used by Jerry on the Europe 1972 tour, shared with DSO’s lead guitarist Jeff Mattson to handle and elevate the specific tones from this legendary instrument. This historic Jerry Garcia instrument is provided for use at our shows with a special thanks to Grateful Guitars Foundation. Foundation’s Andy Logan. Logan states "Grateful Guitars is thrilled that Dark Star Orchestra is celebrating the Grateful Dead’s legendary Europe ’72 our’s 50th anniversary. We’re excited to celebrate some specific show anniversaries this year in the United States and especially to ‘take that ride again’ and tour Europe with the band and our loving tribe. We know this will enliven Deadheads around the world and will help ensure this music thrives for generations.” Rob Barraco summarizes the magnitude of experience stating “It is an honor of my lifetime to pay tribute to such a transformative event that we all have come to know as Europe ‘72.” Tickets for all European shows go on sale Friday, March 25 at 6 AM ET are available via our website. 4. Ahhhh yes! Seen a few late 80s Dead shows at The Frost! Nothing like seeing an afternoon Dead show. The show is over before Dark then you have all night to do, well, whatever it is we do, then repeat the following day. I have not even come close to be at every outdoor venue but The Frost Amp just may be my fav that I have personally been to. I have yet to get my Red Rocks show... Any other contenders?

  5. "Saw Bobby last night in Nashville Indiana in a venue the size of a high school orchestra hall. Was pretty awesome. He was chatty and engaging, was a real good energy all night." You definitely got in a good show.. I knew he was coming there as that's where we're seeing Emmylou, but I forgot it was this weekend. There is a Columbus show coming up on Wed. but it won't be as intimate as the Brown County Music center. Also, big news, Bob Weir and Mickey Hart are playing The Frost Amphitheater on Sunday May 1st! So glad they're opening up shows again at that supreme venue, kudos to Weir! Glad you got in a good show Duck

  7. Saw JRAD at the pageant. I like these guys besides their sound. I was trying to figure out how best to describe what comes out of the PA. When they are all shredding, it becomes one sound. You can’t hear the cymbals or drums hardly at all. It’s like a muddled loud sound. It’s like turning up a bad stereo way past the level you should. Think about when you go to an arena and walk towards the bathroom. You can still hear music but it’s all muddled. But that’s the sound dead center in front of the PA. At my 1st JRAD show I kept asking people what’s wrong with the sound. I thought it was the venue. But every show is like that. Listening to dead and Dso the cymbals and high hats are all crystal clear. It’s like a stereo just just mids and no clean highs. Part of this is the sound delay they use constantly. It’s like creating an arena sound in a theater but in the part of the arena where the sound bounces everywhere. Every time I see them I get annoyed that this is the sound they are going for. I don’t get it. They do tons of cool shit but I want my music clear and clean. On that note, they started jamming Jessica in set 2. Thought it would be a minute then maybe 2 minute jam into a dead song. Nope. They raged a 10 minute full Jessica by the Allmans. Of course with their sound it’s hard to get the tiny details but it was rip roaring and got by far the biggest ovation of the night and how can you not want to hear that song. It’s such an epic fun happy jam that makes me think of sunny warm days. set 1 Row Jimmy music never stopped sugaree Dancin(had been teased since MNS) franklins set 2 Black throated wind jessIca it hurts me too eyes minglewood morning dew E: Sampson. 12 song show. A bit short time wise. Started at 8:15. 40 minute set break and ended at 11:20. Miss my 4 hour dso show

  10. I love that set list. DSO beating the Grateful Dead at their own game. Lost sailor>Tangled up in blue is such a great idea. Visions of Johanna on the anniversary of my favorite Visions, 3/18/95.
