  1. DSO and Albany never disappoints! First night was well played and had a great time. Saturday show- After great dinner with good friends. I was never a fan of feels like a stranger and that continues to be my least favorite opener. Dire Wolf was good loose Lucy was exceptionally funky and fun and when Rob B started mentioning Pig Pen I saw Lisa take a step towards the mic and was pretty sure two souls in communion was next. Dark Star does that like the dead never did and it was the Best I Ever Heard not to put pigpen down but the harmonies that DSO brings are very well appreciated. Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart Shakedown was exceptionally exceptional high energy fun. Box of Rain Wharf rat was an excellent way to open the second set and the Corrina, (that song that never liked with the dead) had DSO as always bring a funkiness to it that makes it a jamming dance tune. Low spark again was the best I ever heard dso perform!!! Imagine out of d/s sans lyrics was perfect. Have they ever done it with lyrics, if not when will they drop it on us? Like a road, playing was done well and the Oh Darling was the 4th time I've heard it and the Best Yet! So in October I was fishing and could not walk more than 50 ft in the sand because my calves tightened up with painful cramps. After going to vascular surgeon they said arteries and veins are good saw my heart doctor she said no changes at all it is probably not that,. I saw my hematologist, I have polycythemia vera -too thick blood and had three pints of blood taken in a month from late December into January. I still had problems... In November Mississippi half step opener in Wisconsin I danced about 45 seconds and barely made it to a seat without falling. Mississippi opener first night danced all the way through and danced about 2/3 of the first set and a little of the second set. Saturday night I was able to dance 2/3 of the first set and about half of the second set maybe a little more 😀 We had a great crew up in the balcony dancing with all the room in the world and healing spirit of good friends! Love you Dark Star Orchestra you continue to heal my mind body and spirit 😂🌹😎❤
  2. That was a great show. Fun time with good friends!
  3. First real concert I think was Mountain at Capital Theater. The following that was and I don't know what order bands like Led Zeppelin Madison Square Garden David Bromberg McCarter Theater Grateful Dead Roosevelt Stadium Outlaws Capitol Theater New Riders of the Purple Sage kingfish Grateful Dead up and down the East Coast for years then started to venture out Alpine Valley Etc
  4. Thanks Mango for truth! As a patron the cap has history and that's about all. About 10 years ago I blew my knee out on that slanted floor and had most of the summer into the fall booked. Tickets, hotels flights and hobble danced best I could. Even had to dance on 1 leg next to the wall at Napa... Fuck slant floor venues, they are a hazard to anyone that does more than bop to the music!
  5. Great elective! DSO never stops amazing me. Very high energy show. I thought the first set took a little time for the band to tighten up but once they did Stellar performance. I was able to dance a little more last night and than before. Had a very hard time standing up when Terrapin started but once I straightened out was able to dance a few minutes until the pain in my legs got too great. (circulation Sciatica?) Had to sit down and watching Nicole and DSO family that I love so much brought joy then I had to wipe tears away thinking I may never be able to participate again like I used to... Feel like a Stranger is one of those songs I've had a hard time wrapping my head around. I just couldn't ever get in the groove until about 6 years ago started to see the Merit in the song/music and last night I got it. It was super funky and probably the best I have ever heard Any where when! Now I get it what a freaking song it is! Love you Dark Star, love you all my friends ✌❤
  6. Milwaukee both nights were exceptional! Got a good dose of Lisa's true Talents with oh darling strange man and Piece of My Heart! Both nights were Stellar I liked second night more than the first night. It could be because I was able to dance just a little bit more on second night. Dealing with circulation in calves can only danced 2/3 of the way through half step first night second night I was able to dance for maybe six to 10 minutes through the whole night. Hope things get better I have a positive outlook on it I'm too young to stop dancing 🙂 Milwaukee is definitely a cool town and in our radar for next year if played a two night weekend!
  7. Love you Doc! Best of luck on your recovery and yes you will dance again :-)
  8. Mango 2012 terrapin... Where was that? I must have been there but memories and age have battles
  9. 88 show open with Mississippi half step a great Franklin's Little Red Rooster plan Uncle John's sugar mag Going Down The Road Feeling Bad Ripple are some highlights. The filler blew us away two songs DSO has never played Lisa knocked oh darling out of the park and Love the One You're With
  10. Anyone in Milwaukee tonight and tomorrow?
  11. John I love this podcast. Greyhead turned me on to this a while ago and I've had a chance to listen to some of it starting at the beginning then skipping around some. Great info on the inner workings of this music and scene!
  12. I have thoughts on this also Chuck. These boards used to be interesting now it's mostly the same five people posting every day... It seems that maybe people think the more posts they make the bigger deadhead or DSO fan they are? Whatever it is I don't get it. I might post a few days in a row when doing shows but I'm not a fan of reading endless posts from the same people for years now.. I'm not negative I'm just New Jersey honest 😁
  13. We are doing Milwaukee, Penn's Peak, Delaware. Wellmont Theater will be last minute decision. Huntington is a possibility also.
  14. Using voice to text so please excuse the typos. Rick what can I say I love you my brother! I remember meeting your mother at the house outside of Atlantic City. We talked for about 15 minutes and in the conversation I had mentioned that I haven't drank or anything else for many years. She asked me to please watch out for you! You know from time to time I have reached out to you to offer support if you wanted it. I have learned painfully that you cannot talk an addict into stopping you can beat them up lock them up counsel pray over Etc but they will not stop until they want to. I will always be there for you! Rick you know much of my story and for your benefit and others that may be looking for hope I'm here to tell you that you can stay clean and overcome the guilt of your life! I will never judge you nor have I ever because I know the life that I lived for many years. Some of the most spiritual people I know have been the dredges of society at some point in their lives. At 14 I got my first sheet of acid figuring I would sell it I sold two hits and the other 98 I consumed in the next 3 and half weeks. I had a period of 6 years shooting an 8ball of Coke or speed nearly every day and drinking a fifth to fifth and a half of scotch every day. With my first major surgery reconstructed shoulder doctor said he doesn't give me more than a year but more than likely a week to months before I die with the path I was on. I quit drinking but continued with the drugs. In all told do to addiction I've had a reconstructed shoulder eight broke ribs rupture spleen 2 back operations broke the Fusions 4 herniated disc above that and six operations on my knees. I had a hard time walking and had to use a cane for close to 10 years. The only thing that gave me relief was heroin. I was shooting 50 to 60 bags of 90% pure Brooklyn (tango n cash, doa etc)dope and had consigned myself to die. In 94 I was back at my parents house doing what I do selling drugs. I got set up brought to the county the cops went to my parents house my mom had a heart attack and went in the hospital and died. My dad was an electrical engineer at Bell labs and my mom was a real estate broker. I was a junkie.. I had nothing to live for. One more day I find myself alive tomorrow maybe go beneath the ground... I listened to this everyday while living in my car after getting out of County Jail for the next 10 months and all I wanted was a little peace before I die. Rick you can come back from the deepest depths of despair I did and you and I are more like than you know. Or maybe you do know.. I got clean in March of 1995 and had 2.5 years with my father before he ended up with cancer and asked me to be in charge and make the decisions on his life and death. Rick with all the guilt I had about my life, all the injuries that I have had, 3 felonies and the difficulties of overcoming immense guilt I have been clean for over 27 years. You are a very special person Rick yes intelligent A pure heart and not a bad person trying to be good, just a sick person trying to get well. You can do this!!! Wasn't it Nietzsche that said "what doesn't kill you will make you stronger." Time to show your strength my friend, Call me!!!

Elective played very well. Personally not a fan of Seaside I feel it represents the worst of what New Jersey has to offer but those that went into the show seemed to be a very good Dead crowd. Many familiar faces everybody seemed to have a very good time dancing although not easy dancing in the sand. We got down the best we could! Some highlights were Box of Rain opener, a deal to end the set that came as close as can be to the Grateful Dead when Jerry was having a good night, mission in the rain a very good funky Corrrina and a Low Spark coming out of space very good! when Jeff broke a string towards the end band went into a Low Spark Jam until he got restrung. Very fun show good concert grounds and could ramble on down to the waves breaking on the ocean... Nicole and I had a blast 😄
  22. I spoke with Metropolitan Police Department this morning they said for the last week or so the truckers have backed up traffic on the belt from around 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day...
