Niners at Eagles will be a rock fight - children should avert their eyes since every play will be like a car crash.  I give Philly the edge but it ain't a big one - even with Brock Purdy at QB for SF.

Philly by 4.

Bengals at Chiefs should be a good one too.  Mahomes should be a bit less mobile - a high-ankle sprain is usually a 3-4 week injury so even with a ton of rest and treatment, it's hard to see him at something more than 80%, best case.  Joe Burrow is right there as one of the best 2 or 3 QB's in the NFL.  If the strung-together O-Line can keep him clean (maybe a big IF), I think the Bengals will win by double-digits.  I'm rooting for Mahomes to get that 2nd ring but also rooting for Burrow to cash it in and make the case that he's the best QB in the NFL and reward a city starving for a winner.

Bengals by 6.

If Philly can rattle Purdy’s cage, it’ll be more than four, I think. Honestly, all four teams have a pretty good chance. Don’t forget what kC’s backup QB did while Mahomes was getting his ankle checked out last week. 98 yard touchdown drive that ate up some clock. I always enjoy this week’s games more than the Super Bowl.

I have taken a couple days to cool down and it hasn't helped much except to realize it's not going to change. The NFL needs to get their officiating problems fixed asap or they're going to have big problems. You can't jump into bed with sports betting and then have this much controversy in your biggest games. Bengals v Chiefs had 55 million viewers and there is more talk nationally about the officiating than the game. I think Mahommes played an incredible game and was able to be much more mobile and effective than I thought he would be and I very much look forward to our match up at Arrowhead next year and future playoff matchups. I hope we are at home next time and the calls go our way. An observation on the payoffs playoffs in general,  it is clear at least this year that it is an incredible advantage to have the 1 seed.  KC played a 9-8 team at home to get to the AFC Championship game and the Eagles played a 9-7-1 team and then a team without a QB in the championship game. Very difficult to tell just how good Philly is. I'll wait for more injury info on the Chiefs before making a pick.

PS: Yes our Mayor was an idiot making those comments,  everyone here cringed at the time

I have this theory about football teams working their way through the playoffs. The Patriots had it down, where the goal isn’t just to get to the Super Bowl but to win the super Bowl. Some teams blow their wad before getting there. The Eagles always talk about getting to the Super Bowl and winning it. It dawned on me today that the Bengals/chiefs game was so hyped up, full of trash talking back and forth, etc. that the Chiefs could be spent and might not have as much left in the tank as the Eagles who haven’t even been challenged yet in the playoffs. My take.

Much as I hate to say it,  I'm leaning toward the Eagles and their overwhelming O and D lines

in the offseason you add a FA who gets you 18 sacks and you trade for a WR1 who gives you 1500 yards. That’s how you get to the SB.

I just got word from one of the officiating refs of today's game:

Eagles 33

Thiefs 23

the score was already accidentally posted on PFR. 37-34 eagles. The Sportsbooks had that score at 250-1 and it quickly got bet down to 80-1.  Someone’s getting fired in the NFL offices for letting the final score slip out early. 10-0 Chiefs after Q1 is what the NFL has scripted, but the eagles make a comeback b/c the nfl knows it’s good for ratings.

Classic Game!  More scoring than I thought.  KC had the answer in the 2nd half - really, really tough late penalty call on Philly for the situation.  Hurts played like an MVP despite the unforced fumble in the 1st half.

Happy for a good game - Happy for Mahomes - bummed for such a pivotal call against the Eagles.

That ref would face a battery Chuck squad if he ever finds his way back to Philly

PI on Philly reminiscent if the PI against my Bengals late in the game last year leading to the Rams go ahead score.  I feel for Philly fans

One last comment on the Super Bowl,  you can't have field conditions like that at the Super Bowl! Huge black eye for the league and Phoenix

Agreed…the field had an effect on more plays then just 1 fumble or horrific call and is in control of the league. Shameful.

Long-Time listener, 1st time caller, love the show.

Week 1 in the books!  Dallas, San Francisco have statement wins, rookie QB’s take their lumps, 10 road teams win, and WTF happened to the Bengals?!

Happy to have the NFL back!

i was so pumped when New England came back until I saw the replay and was like omg he’s OB. That would have been a great start since the nfc east will be a battle at the top
