  3. So I'll tell you all about something that happened In Seattle this last time. During drums, I'm dancing, someone I don't know randomly decided to interupt and volunteer to me, "You know, back in the day, thousands of years ago, if you got sick, they'd take you out into the middle of nowhere, surround, and beat drums at you." He looked me right in the eyes and said, "This [going to dead shows] is the healthiest thing anyone can do." Deadheads are protected ;3 What the world needs more than anything in the midst of all this is the experience of these shows - If any are forced to be cancelled, it will be a terrible tragedy and a missed opportunity to send a much needed message.

  4. Black Mountain is a top 5 DSO experience every year. Consistently an amazing time. Although some changes last year to the vibe. mango until you do Jamaica I would save that phrase. Quite a phrase. Hallelujah jingle bell rainbow huh? Never heard anything like that before. I put jubilee up there with BM. Clearly Jamaica. Penns can get there. New Years run can compare. I’ve had epic Hampton beach experiences. But like I said top 5 Dso experience every time. From the great music from Dso. To the after gatherings of music and laughter. I’ve done BM many ways; it’s always one hell of a good time. I think it is always around mango birthday too which helps makes it a great time. One thing I know mango and I can agree on though is you never really know what night and what venue is gonna be that experience for you. I remember kinda of hating Rams Heads shows because of the crowd and the space. One time came in low expectations on a Sunday night and the experience was amazing. Massive get down. Never know when it’s gonna strike.

  5. Will just be getting back from Italy on the Diamond Princess 2 cruise ship in time for this tour!!! Can't wait!!! If the President isnt cancelling his tour, no way DSO should. Plus deadheads are super hygienic and always keep a 1 meter distance from each other. Don't make me tweet "My trip to Mar-a-Lago got cancelled because of DSO overreacting to COVID-19". DSO may get a new presidential nickname. Best to stay off that radar.

  7. Colorado is cool but Black Mountain is THE must catch of the year. I'm gonna throw my weight around here and claim that I have advanced knowledge and opinions about DSO tour and that the Black Mountain experience is the jingle bell rainbow hallelujah hatrack of them all. For me. And I'd looooove it if you came Huck! And the rest of you fine folk. I'm making a statement here- believe it if you need it or leave it if you dare~

  8. It would be nice if we had an actual president to allay fears, and provide a strong front for the country. Praise DSO.

  9. cant lock the country down forever. If this was taken seriously from the beginning we may not be in this situation. Then last night the idiot in chief used his speech to try to reinforce his xenophobia and protectionist policies. Of course it turns out his white supremacist speech writer wrote it which helped lead to markets collapsing even more. Today the round table of his goons who took turns saying how amazingly he’s handled this doesn’t help. What a fucktard and people worship this egotistical maniac. It’s just an indictment on our reality tv low educated society....and the state of white supremacy as if you took that away doubt he’d be that popular.

  11. I'd guess possibly back to somewhat normal by May but surely by summer... Fear overtaking a populace always makes for strange times, justified or not. At least, in this case, the "enemy" is not a person, group of people, country, or idealogy... Although I'm sure this sets up big pharmaceuticals for tremendous profits... It's in time like these that Old Uncle John used to say,,"stay healthy, continue to enjoy life, and smile on your brother...And for Pete's Sake,,,stop licking door knobs!!"

  12. Me and Jake were scheming briefly about doing the Colorado run, really tough to pull off with the kids at home. Gonna shoot for Black Mountain along with whatever we can pull off up here, less days away from home and we want to see what the hubbub is about Black Mountain 🤗

  13. DSO has cancelled March and April shows. Here's a note from their FB page: "If the thunder don’t get you then the lightning will!“ Wise words in these rapidly changing times. While things are uncertain, together as an organization, we are committed to ensuring the safety and health of our fans, producers, staff and everyone involved in putting on concerts and festivals across our fine nation. In order to do our part to help stem the spread of the coronavirus, DSO is following various government issued mandates that require enhancing social distancing by postponing mass gatherings. At this time, our upcoming March & April tour dates are being canceled and are doing our best to reschedule dates as much as possible. Ticket info and details regarding these postponed shows will be forthcoming via each local venue, please stay tuned. In the meantime, please follow all the recommended guidelines coming from official health sources to stay healthy through proper hygiene and reduce community transmission to help curb this epidemic. We will keep you all posted on the concerts. In the meantime, “WE WILL GET BY!”

  15. Yes Oregon boy, your time has come to explore the wide world. Mason, I agree wholehardely- you don't know what the shows will be like- But as an overall experienc Black Mount is my favorite. No doubt Jamaica is top notch but there's a serious price differential there that I have yet been able to overcome. One of these days...

  17. Lol so after JRAD cancelled we decided to do 2 hyryder shows at the mousetrap in indy Friday and Saturday. Cancelled just now. I blame the idiot in chief. "We have very strong emergency powers under the Stafford Act," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday. "I have it memorized, practically, as to the powers in that act. And if I need to do something, I'll do it. I have the right to do a lot of things that people don't even know about." Makes GW bush look like a the head of MENSA.

  18. This is getting serious. Will Americans obey self quarantine laws. No gatherings larger than 10 people. 9 PM curfew. No hugs. No handshakes. The shut down of public schools and all restaurants. I know this virus is serious but we are verging on mass hysteria here. Wash your hands. We can’t go back into the cave because of a virus. We are going to cripple our economy. Soon starvation not the virus will be the major concern of the poor. Time to go to the market and hoard all the supplies. Sucks I’m not a prepper. I’m not prepared for this. Elections will have to be cancelled. Trump will be able to have a stranglehold on the presidency. Can’t have people gather to vote. Power can’t change during pandemic.

  20. UGH... Bob Weir & Wolf Brothers just postponded St. Louis show--it was scheduled for 3-18-2020 & now "new" date is Oct. 17. Wonder what the Rolling Stones will do for their tour? Sure is getting strange and speaking of strange... nothing like enjoying a great Jakes Leg show (local St.Louis dead cover band that Rob K sits in with every once in awhile) in St.Louis on Saturday night and running into some "strange" guy in the bathroom. Always great to see you Rude and your wife!!! Hope you had a great time at the show. Be safe everybody

  21. Went to see Melvin Seals and JGB this past Saturday at the Cap, great time! My first time seeing the full band, the only other time I've seen Melvin was with DSO as his band a couple years ago at the Jubilee. High energy dance tempo all night long, with a few breaks in the onslaught with some slower songs. Great time to break up the winter between fall Northeast and sorting Northeast DSO, usually go into concert hibernation during winter. I would see them again if they are within an hour or so. Local CT Grateful Dead band Stella Blues Band opened up, which was a lovely surprise in how tight they are and well they played.
