Took my buddy to this…his first dead show.

14 years later he talked me into seeing a band called Dark Star Orchestra…“they play entire dead shows!”

6/25/85 Blossom - Day Tripper!  Then 6/25/88 Buckeye Lake - hottest temp ever (106 degrees) in Hebron.  Those that came from Alpine were well accustomed to the heat after four shows in five nights with 100+ everyday in Wisc.

Heat beer index was off the charts…friend cited above passed out mid sentence in grass lot. Woke up 1 minute later with no effects or affects.

Another show…another story.

Strangely I don;t recall the heat being oppressive at that '88 Buckeye show.  I do recall the venue being really weird. The ground had a subtle slope causing one side of the stage to be higher up from the crowd than the other. And on one side there were fences that separated people's back yards. Someone was having a cookout.  Talk about a free show in your back yard. Only show I saw there.  I thought the Cassidy -> Deal set 1 closer was the highlight. Not sure I've listened to the show since.

July 7, 1987 was Roanoke, Virginia.

Interesting list, West LA set 2 opener.  Apparently a very small venue.

This was the first of 2 nights at the Roanoke civic center. My transmission took a shit on the side of the highway on the way to these shows. We hitched on to the shows and left the car. Glad we did. Both of these shows smoked! The crazy fingers from night 2 lingers in my mind as the best I saw. Went back to the gas station I left the car at a week or so later hoping to get about $500 for the car. After some hard core negotiations I accepted the gas station owners offer of $50. 😂😂😂😂

This was the tour where Bruce was getting after Jerry for everything being too structured. Rumor has it that between sets Jerry told him to pay close attention coming out of Slipknot

I’m partial to the Warfield/Radio City acoustic/electric run. I think they are refocused, reinventing themselves again after Keith and Donna’s departure. Brent is getting settled in. The future was looking bright. No one in the band is worn out , weary from the road, the drugs. They weren’t mainstream yet. Ahh, the good old days. I find it more precious than late eighties when everyone says they were at their best. That’s all, thanks for letting me share.
