The Boys final appearance at the Frost kicks

off with this odyssey of a performance, certainly

worthy of the venue in which it was delivered.

Beyond the near flawless execution of the

show, jewels are scattered throughout the

set list- TLEO, Kentucky Derby Race Is On,

China>Rider to close set one, Samson on

a Saturday.  The Big Man dipped his toe

in the MIDI world during Space and

Take You Home, Steve Parrish handing

him a generic white guitar for those segments.

This concert stands on the top of the mountain

for my Grateful Dead shows.  I spent the afternoon

on the rail, wide open and absorbing every ounce

of energy coming off the stage.  We stayed at an

old one level half moon hotel with the pool in the

middle, it was an open door party late into the night.

It was 31 years ago today.

Praise DSO.

2pm showtime?

Weather perfect?

Roses everywhere?

Thanks for the lead, I'm putting it on now. Latter day china rider in first set and I love space leading into I will take you home, Jerry seemed to give it some extra levitation to set a beautiful platform for brent to deliver

I just listened to cincy 4/7/89 Blow Away is one of best versions and Jerry's energy level throughout the whole show is inspiring. LTGTR>west la opener /soace>wheel >fantasy >jude

Was on the outside looking in for that one,

although the girlfriend found a ticket.

"Was on the outside looking in for that one"

that happened to me a lot on that spring 89 tour, got into one omni, outside looking in at Greensboro,  and outside for the first show in Pittsburg.  First time I toured with a vendor and spent time in the lot during show time. GDP did send me front row center for my home town cincy show, although I spent most of it in the 15th row running fob hornhat into d5, went up front after the final tape flip, needless to say the usher was tired of seeing my ticket by the time I used it.😗

During the show, in real time, I'm thinking, "really, We Can Run in the 2nd set?"

Today I'm thinking, "what a blessing to have been witness to that about 15th row center."  Jerry didn't leave stage during the second set, or at least that's my recollection.

Thats a quite a one-two-punch ❤️

...i recall a late night- mighty high 2011- hotel hysteria.  With the Silent Knight we listened to SPAC 83, and we didn't get much sleep that night.  Cool matrix of that show.

set list location for a break out, with the locomotive airhorn

signalling the Casey.  We had a large group on the field

and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

Didn’t they do the air horns at the beginning of the show? I’m pretty sure that when they blasted the air horns before Casey Jones, that wasn’t the first time that day that they were ‘played’. It wasn’t much the first time, maybe just a test run to make sure they shook the paint loose from the walls at RFK. That was the best! Totally way cool.

imagine we're all in a parking lot right now years and years ago waiting to get into the post or maybe we're in a lot up in Maine waiting to get into the speedway,  nothing but miles and miles of intrigue coming up, speculations being drawn up, beers going down,  grill cheese and crystals in each row of cars, someone yells at their dog Cassidy,  looking for a last copy of  duprees, but when they come out on stage reality hits imagination and swirls everyone up and away until it's dark and you're back in the lot again,  having a well deserved brew and looking for your car for the next two hours

Satisfaction played 31x per deadbase with most being encores. On that note half of the encores were double encores with satisfaction followed by brokedown 8x, baby blue 4x and us blues 1x.

The last song I saw John K play with DSO was a Satisfaction encore in Dewey Beach, Bottle and Cork. He was doing a bit of a ‘running in place’ kinda dancing, Rocking hard, broken string involved. I always wonder when leaving a Bottle and Cork DSO show, what everyone in town just experienced. With the open roof, there’s no escaping the show anywhere in town. Hey everyone, you just had it done to you by the Dark Star Orchestra. I need a show !

7/2/86 Akron Rubber Bowl - Dylan with Tom Petty and Dylan with the boys for a few songs. I remember "Don't Think Twice It's All Right" in the first set and "Desolation Row" in the second - both firsts for me.  I remember thinking "Boy I sure wish Jerry would have done the vocals".

DSO played Satisfaction on 4/5/14 at the El Rey. It was changed in for Sugar Magnolia. Some guy was up front throwing ice chips at the  band first set and got thrown out. Epic Viola Lee Blues! A friend was there on conference and we took my childhood bestie who was practicing plastic surgery at UCLA to her first show. She wore a Metallica black dress with a super low mesh V front and back. Lol. The only time I’ve seen band members before the show out front. Jeff stopped by and told us we were in for a grate show. And it was

thanks for spurring the memories .
